CBS Sports has USF playing Arkansas State in the St. Pete Bowl. Interestingly enough though, they also have SDSU playing in the Cotton Bowl.

All of the reporters are just finding the local team that's bowl eligible and putting them in the closest bowl and filling in he rest. Once they get past the "big bowls" there doesn't seem to be much more delving into the intricacies. That's why I love SBN; a lot of the advanced stats, projections and bowl outcomes are closer to what they predict than most. I was pretty impressed when an 8-4 USF team pretty much stated they didn't want to stay local and the bowl committees abided. I think the guys would love to go out of state and playing on a Thursday Night on the 29th against an SEC team would be great! 

Anything after xmas isn't bad in my eyes. The bowl games that are prior are the tough ones, especially Miami Beach which is a Monday and Boca which is a Tuesday.

In the Big East, St.Pete and Birmingham were our two worst bowl games and now they are our best. Birmingham  will likely be our conference champion against a 6-6 or 7-5 SEC team that is barely bowl eligible. St. Pete will be our 2nd in conference vs. a 6-6 or 7-5 ACC team that is bowl eligible. If USF doesn't  make the conference championship game I could see St. Pete taking us and putting the conference championship loser in Annapolis due to proximity.

This would be some BS.  Has this ever happened before outside of the national championship game, where bowl opponents met in the regular season?
