Win or lose - it allows us to compete. If we can't play P5 teams, then how do we expect to compete in a P5 conference?

I think the OP's point is, don't play the best P5 teams.  I think he wants us to schedule more Syracuse, more Wake Forests, more Illinois'.

No, he's saying if you schedule the top 5% elite teams and don't win it doesn't mean the sky is falling and we can't compete in a P5 conference. Half of the P5 teams can't compete in a P5 conference if you go by that metric.

Either way, this is all so easy to say on hindsight.  Reality is that Saturday's game was a winnable game ... we just didn't do what we needed to do.  And while the outcome certainly didn't benefit us, aside from learning where we are most vulnerable on defense, it didn't exactly hurt us either.  This loss has zero effect on us for the AAC standings - which is the most important thing for this team ... right?

UCF had it worse when we beat the 64 - 12; and they still won

their conference.
