After watching Saturday's game, I came away feeling pretty good about our boys and what the future holds in conference play. Although we have come accustomed to biting it in big games recently, I got this feeling we are on the verge of doing something special. Just wished our traveling fan base gave a **** about the team.

I wish people in Tampa did.

We are a good qb away from having a really good team.

But from I've seen so far we will struggle hard to maybe get 5 wins.

I disagree. We are progressing but we have holes elsewhere as well.

What areas?

Not saying we have a top 10 team but a good qb and I think this is a solid team.

I liked what I saw from the team on Saturday. It was the first time in a long time they came out and fought tooth and nail the whole game. I hate the phrase moral victory but I saw some glimmers of hope for this season and beyond, which is all we could really hope to gain from that game.

I was very encouraged by some things I saw, but has the state of this program regressed so far back that we are satisfied with a 20 point beatdown?

The gaping holes are receiver and offensive line. We have some promising prospects at WR (Barr looked real good on Saturday) but they don't seem to be ready to take over yet. I fear the o-line will take another couple seasons to really hit the level they need to.

I'm also not real high on our DBs (outside of Byrd), but they have performed admirably thus far. We are also paper thin elsewhere such that there is a significant dropoff in talent when subs rotate in (defensive line for example).

Good QB would go a long way (and would make a way bigger difference than the last couple years, where I think even a good QB would have floundered) but I don't think it's fair to say that it's the only thing keeping us from being a "really good" team right now.

I can't say we aren't good at receiver they never get the ball and have no chemistry with Flowers.

Oline I agree we need to get stronger but a good qb can cover that hole some.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."
