Well, at least we may have a nice running game this year.

Not if we can't pass and teams stuff the box like the past 2 years.

We really need good QB play if we want to have an effective running game.

Well adding Gibbons and the JUCO Bethel is huge that's more talent in the tackle spots over what we have had in the past. The guard spots look solid with Gudmundson,Joswiak and Threatt and I guess Ruff will move in center since he was back up last year. Plus we have a lot of young kids that should start to compete for starting jobs.

Bethel is not on the roster, so I'm not sure if he's in or out.  Was hoping he'd have time with the team to learn the offense.

He is coming in August 4 when we start practice

I think we need better QB play, but we will need a different kind of QB play than the past 2 years which to me is a plus.  Those guys are going to be allowed to use their legs and the read option will demand the QB is accounted for, which should give Mack and company some room.  If we're looking at a line that can be bookend by Gibbons and Bethel, with some combination of Hall, Threat, Ruff, Gundmundson and Galati.  We should have a much better line and I really do think Flowers is going to have a better season than many expect.  But Gibbons isn't a given at that T spot.  Knox, Dlbokavic (no idea as to how to spell it), and Amachia had decent springs.

I think the OL play will be better overall than we've seen in a long time... a really long time... like 2009 or something.

I think we have more talent at OL than Taggart's had.  Reiter will be missed, and Eatman was pretty good, usually.  But Williams got abused most of his career, yet to his credit, he started for years.  He was soft, but toward the end, I started to see a nasty streak, which I don't think is his natural persona.  But he actually started to impress a little late (which is likely why he's getting an UFA shot).

I don't worry about this unit's talent...just chemistry & experience.

Joey Knight has a good breakdown of the options for our OLine

http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/with-gibbons-bulls-o-line-possibilities-abound/2233562

Look at this option...

LT Reilly Gibbons, Fr. (6-6, 305)
LG Thor Jozwiak, Sr. (6-4, 321)
C Cameron Ruff, R-So. (6-3, 313)
RG Jeremi Hall, R-So. (6-5, 345)
RT Glen Bethel, Jr. (6-6, 300)

They are all over 300 lbs... only 1 senior... but most of them have game experience.

Don't forget about Ben Knox who was a 4* and former Gator recruit.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
