  1. Media down here is soft. I've seen the Northeast and Canadian media all over hockey coaches after a win, let alone a loss. Here the media goes along to get along.
  2. I've had kidney stones twice. Not worse. I've also had them twice, needed one surgically removed. I'll have to disagree.
  3. I have a buddy who's in Lubbock. He was angry when Rocky beat their mascot last year. This will make him delirious with joy.
  4. UConn was the one game I felt we were in the driver's seat the entire game. Even with that we didn't show the killer instinct to bury them. We did handle them well and I never felt the result was in question.
  5. Cincinatti played prevent defense for most of the 2nd half. I could have played better than White when they did that. Take away the blown coverage TD, which left Adams wide open, and Bench was not "much" better. (Without that 67 yard TD, White was 8 of 13 for 80 yards... Take away Davis' TD on a slant route - the only slant pass attempted all night - and it become 7/12 for 43 yards.) Bench had 5 drives: * 5 plays, 16 yards, punt * 3 plays, -4 yards, punt * 3 plays, 75 yards, TD because the safety did not rotate over to cover Adams when the CB blitzed * 2 plays, 46 yards, TD (great return by Tice on a short kick set it up); Davis scored on a slant route * 6 plays, 5 yards, punt I'm not really defending White - just pointing out that your impression from last night does not bear out in the stats. Bench was not "much better". You've got to be kidding. White fumbled more times than Floyd. The fact that both White and Bench fumbled snaps tells me the Center is doing something wrong... and deserves some of the blame. White had one fumble that would be "his" fault, and one that was the result of tackling by the DL. So they don't really count when I evaluate the QB play last night Everything counts in large amounts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVXADH_spOY
  6. You want some good post-game comments, listen to Darryl Sutter.
  7. Bench still had to recognize the blown coverage and he had to make the throw. It counts. Just as any White touchdown counts. You want to argue that the stats of one game aren't representative you've got a discussion. You don't get to cherry pick the plays though. Let's throw the 2nd half of the Tulsa game out. They clearly self-destructed so no credit to White.
  8. There is a chance, I still think we beat SMU. I'm dubious about 2 out of 3 against Houston, UCF and Memphis. Houston is really a must win to keep bowl hopes alive. Worst case, we play UCF at home last game of the season with nothing to play for and UCF playing a meaningful game. It could make the ugliness and frustration of the Cinci game seem tame.
  9. Maybe that would be the best outcome. Might convince Taggs his ideas don't work, and he needs to change them. I think it will make him more resolute and there will be some on here championing his cause. This! If Taggart were the kind of guy to adapt it would have already happened.
  10. I still hold out hope I'll marry Nicole Kidman. Sure, that Urban guy will have to die or divorce her and many other things will have to happen but it is still achievable!
  11. Na man, we'd rather sit 7 yards off when all they need is 4-5 yards then backpedal another 3+ yards away from the line to make at the snap! It's genius i tell ya! 4th and 2? Lets play 7 yards off. How the hell did our DB coach ever get hired into the NFL? It is extremely frustrating to see them playing 5 yards off the receiver every play. It was 3rd and near automatic for Cinci. Over and over and over, short uncontested pass + a few extra yards.
  12. I actually think we have. Though we still have talent deficiencies, particularly at QB and in my opinion very questionable coaching I do think the team is better. Granted we have inferior competition but the offense does score more often this season. Have we improved enough? No. If Taggart was less stubborn and CCB stopped playing so soft on defense I think we might be seeing acceptable improvement towards a competent competitive team.
  13. Soft is going to sue you for insulting it like that!
  14. Heck, at this point I'm ready to pay good money to find out what Bench did that got him banished. Can we do a group funding thing for that? I don't know that Bench would be better but I've seen enough of White and enough of Bench that I'd like to see what Bench could do with a few weeks of first team reps in practice and game time.
  15. I hate to agree because I did think the call on Dunkley was soft but it is the rule and it was enforced correctly and Davis did throw punches. So sadly the calls were correct, like or hate the rule.
  16. In my opinion his performance today was good enough to get him another start. But Captain Ahab is obsessed with the great White QB and is going to pursue that option to a bad end. So my answer to your question is NO. No performance could give Bench the starting position.
  17. Nope ... That's the same type release USF had and it's still just an agreement in principle until your BOR signs off on it. I think "Unofficially Official" is **** magnanimous of me .. Being a Longhorn Foundation member and an annual donor, two days ago I emailed our AD on why Texas chose to schedule USF. Here is the reply I received: Reynaldo, We have huge alumni bases in SE part of the country from ATL down through Fla. & coach Strong is a monster recruiter in that area. S Fla has 40k plus students & is going to be a growing power in sports. New AD there is from UCLA & is a brilliant administrator. Years after Steve Patterson graduated from Texas (undergraduate degree in business and a JD from Texas Law School), he became the AD at Arizona State University. While at ASU, I am sure he became quite familiar with all the ADs and associate ADs in the conference (Pac 10). Now Steve is back at Texas as the new AD here. It doesn't surprise me now that the connection USF's new AD's has with Steve Patterson is the major reason USF in now on Texas' future schedule. University of South Florida set to hire athletic director from UCLA - Tampa Bay Business Journal B12, here we come, baby ... I don't understand why they haven't made the B12 announcement yet. It is clearly a done deal.
  18. This must be an important and influential message board since other teams' fans care so much about where they are ranked by the posters here.
  19. It is called G5 - get used to it Payday games excite me, money is good!
  20. As I told the chatroom, I had to go to Disney with family so I also missed the 2nd half, heard it on 98.7 and 1080 on the way there. Perhaps the key to victory is for us to not watch the game!
