  1. bosh couldnt guard wilt i might feel sorry for bosh he would look so small against wilt And Wilt couldn't guard Bosh. Wilt didn't become a good defender until really his last two years with the Lakers (which, yes, would've been in 1971-1972) but that was still more in terms of interior defense. There's no way he could've chased around Bosh 15-20 feet out. Also, keep in mind Bosh really isn't a center. He's a power forward that had to convert to center.
  2. This is a real close one, but overall I agree that rehab was a legitimate, albeit gutsy, option. Rice's behavior was unacceptable and way overboard. But, as a result, he was reprimanded, suspended, fined, and sent to anger management. It's unclear as to whether or not they were monitoring his progress during the season, but I think that should've been done as well. In the event any of the behavior returned, it'd be immediate grounds for termination. Again, this is a real close one, and I could've also seen merit in firing him from the onset. I don't think the AD should've been fired, though, for trying to rehab the guy.
  3. I haven't seen his vile name attached to anything meaningful about the Rutgers story. He probably came out from whatever hole he's in and took credit for the scoop.
  4. I know it's easier to say at this point, but I think the Bucs should've chosen Jenkins over Talib to begin with. Both the Bucs & Dolphins need help at corner and I doubt Jenkins would be that pricey.
  5. It's decent. Kinda glad we don't have to hear the Big LEast crap anymore.
  6. Slight edge to Blackwell over Grothe. Blackwell was consistently good and just an overall better quarterback than Grothe. BJ had some great and memorable plays to be sure, but he made way too many stupid mistakes that were very costly.
  7. It's been a tough MBB season, but coaches have bad seasons here and there. If we have two more bad seasons in a row, then we can start this conversation. Heath is safe and will be for the foreseeable future.
  8. CWT's replies are amusing, but he's probably better served just flicking the dirt off his shoulder and not even replying.
  9. Jim has been a hothead all the way back to his playing days, and he's never really had any class. John is much more relaxed and in control of himself. I do have to admit that the no-call holding penalty towards to the end of the game would be hard for most coaches to take.
  10. Was there an over/under on how many times Ray Lewis said "God" or "Jesus" during the postgame celebration?
  11. I'm glad Skip's no longer our coach. He's a good guy, so I don't wish any ill will towards him either. I care very much for USF football and USF athletics but like Data said, it's just football. I'm sure CPR meant it more flippantly but the people that are truly hateful and do stuff like send death threats to kickers that miss field goals really need to have their head examined.
  12. They do. The NFL has each team provide financial advice to players and there are lots of tools at players' disposal. However, a vast majority of the players are 1) Arrogant and don't want to take advice on how to spend their money, 2) Want to impress their friends, family and the general public, 3) Want to give back to their families and 4) Take advice from friends who may not be looking out for their best interests. Since many of them come from little to no money, it's said how many of them do a complete 180 like this.
  13. Wannestedt was never really a good head coach, but he's always been a pretty good defensive coach. He's also extremely likeable as a coach, so hopefully that'll bode well for team morale. I think it's a good hire for the Bucs.
  14. I second that. The Dolphins don't belong on the worst list, especially since one of the Super Bowl wins capped an undefeated season.
  15. It's pretty close for both best and worst. As for best: The 49ers dominated three of their five wins and their only (recent) loss was close (3 points). Their wins were 26-21, 38-16, 20-16, 55-10 and 49-26, with an average margin of victory at 19.8 points. The Packers dominated three fo their four wins and their only loss was close (7 points). Their wins were 35-10, 33-14, 35-21, 31-25, with an average margin of victory at 16 points. Best = 49ers As for worst: The Vikings lost all four of their games by double figures but really weren't annihilated in any of them like the Bills were. Scores were 23-7, 24-7, 16-6 and 32-14, with an average margin of defeat at 15.25 points. The Bills lost a close one to the Giants 20-19 but other scores were 37-24, 52-17 and 30-13, with an average margin of defeat at 16.50 points. Worst = Bills
  16. As far as mascots are concerned, I'm not all that crazy about the "bus" theme, especially if CWT does a good job here and bolts in a few years. We need something that has more longevitiy. I was in favor of having a live bull but it has never come to fruition. There was a lot of talk about getting a live around the early to mid-2000s but the athletic department dropped it for fear of liability and logistical issues. http://www.tampabay.com/news/humaninterest/article968493.ece
  17. Krafty's a great guy...very down-to-earth. He did a fine job as co-defensive coordinator along with Wally. Good form on not mentioning the latter.
  18. Good call. We need to start modernizing our currency and make its creation more cost-effective.
  19. They're reviled in Manchester, UK for their ownership of ManU. The locals there have tried very similar tactics but to no avail. I agree with Trip, you can't humiliate them when they're making all the money they are from both franchises...especially ManU...which I believe now has the highest valuation of any sports franchise in the world. All the more reason they could be humiliated, humbled or whatever. They have pride! You don't think having to see and be asked about a sign saying "Hey Glazers, Why do you keep taking millions from USF football?" wouldn't bother them? Right, because this worked so well in Manchester... It's an exercise in futility for us to put up a sign slamming the Glazers when our elected officials agreed to the deal.
  20. I'd be fine with it. If he did jump ship, we're still in a better situation to land another good or potentially an even better coach. Of course, that's what I think most of us say now whereas if it were to come to reality there'd be a MELTDOWN!!!
