  1. Thaddeus Lewis and Bryant Miller should be the only signing day surprise decisions tomorrow. If Lewis goes to Pitt, he'll probably sit behind Stull for a few yrs before starting. If Lewis goes to TCU, he won't be able to compete for a NC. Therefore, I think it's between us and Duke. Even moreso since those two visits are fresh in his mind. Speaking of which, Duke may have problems b/c of their recent visits and involving their alumni, which is illegal. I wonder if this has been picked up by USF's staff. I somehow see Thaddeus choosing us, even after his really good visit to Durham. IMO, Miller is going to Auburn. That being said, I don't think there will be any other surprises. All that we have listed as commitments should end up signing their LOI, even Stirrups. There is no chance whatsoever that James and Rose will sign with us, so don't get your hopes up there.
  2. From the Thaddeus Lewis diary. "...The salutes didn't end there. Even on his visit to the famed school chapel and the school library, students, professors and alumni came and greeted him with handshakes. ''They really made me feel comfortable,'' Lewis said. ``I didn't want to come in with the idea these people might be too smart or whatever, but they were all normal, easy to get along with it. It made me feel great.'' After his tour, Lewis and the five other recruits on his visit were treated to a special lunch at the home of one of the school's most well-known doctors. ''His house was beautiful and the food was great,'' Lewis said. ``But what blew me away the most was what he told me. He had this painting of him and [former Duke guard] Tommy Amaker [now the coach at Michigan]. He told me how he was one of the first great black basketball players to come to Duke and how helped turn the program into what it is today. He said, `You can come here and do the same thing. And even when the ball deflates and your career is over, you've still got that degree from a great school.'..." It is true from what 'BigEastBeasts' said in that alumni cannot help recruit student athletes. The only loophole in which this can occur is if the same alumnus helps to recruit regular students to the school. I doubt the doctor Thaddeus mentioned does that. No alumni, boosters or representatives of a college's athletics interests can be involved in recruiting prospective student-athletes. Only coaches and staff members of a college or university are permitted to recruit prospective student-athletes to their school.
