  1. All this is just posturing. Ross is a hot-head and they're all crying like little babies that the legislature didn't give the Miami voters the go-ahead to vote on any changes. As usual, ESPN is blowing it up into this presposterous story. Like Bullphin said, this is a non-issue and the Dolphins won't be leaving Miami...ever.
  2. Yeah, but don't their agents (i.e., lawyers) tell them not to sign their extension?
  3. Sign-and-trade, perhaps? While it'd clear up considerable cap space, it's hard to believe they'd let him go without getting something in return. He's still only 27 and I think he's got a lot of juice left. That said, his injuries and status as a prima donna headache may have diminished his value quite a bit. Maybe he'll go to the Heat along with Chris Paul har har har.
  4. dont feel bad a team like clippers look good during the year on a tuesday night against anyone but in a series when the other team can game plan clippers arent so good and blake griffin isnt an 'a" player by any stretch of the imagination They have a top 3 point guard (if not the best), a really good forward (like you said, griffin hasn't quite gotten to 'a' status yet), and some good veterans to fill the roster and bench. They have a good mix, but perhaps they're another player and year away from being in the upper echelon of the league. Gotta give the Grizzlies credit, they've come to play these last two playoffs.
  5. He was never REALLY given the opportunity to beat out Sanchez ... in practice, maybe so, but he seemed to always turn it up a notch in real games. They never gave him the chance. Crying shame. He deserved better. Agreed .. Most jets fans I know, including muself, wanted Tebow in those games. Who do you think was more at fault: Sparano or Ryan? Ryan. To me, what QB comes into the game is determined by the head coach alone. Agreed. He's the head coach and he controls who plays and who doesn't. Ryan isn't meant to be an NFL head coach; only DC. The "Peter Principle" almost always rings true for coaching. Once you've risen above your management capabilities, you will inevitably fall back to your more fitting position. If the Jets don't make the playoffs next year, Ryan will be fired; Woody shouldn't have kept him even this year.

  7. But do you remember Rony Seikaly, Bimbo Coles, Jamal Mashburn and Vashon Leonard? You lost me on that last part. I know "that's why they play the game", but who is going to take 4/7 from Miami? As long as LeBron is healthy, I don't see it. Yes, of course. And Thunder Dan Majerle, PJ Brown, Brian Grant, Bruce Bowen, James Posey, Keith Askins, Steve Smith... What I meant by the last part is their likelihood of winning is about as high as it gets, but even so, nothing is an absolute certainty. And that's what I said too: Who's going to be able to beat the Heat four games out of seven?
  8. There are certainly a lot of fake, bandwagon Heat fans and they're revolting. However, there are also a lot of Heat fans (such as myself) that were still fans during the 15-win season and 20s-wins seasons in the beginning of the 2000s, suffered through the agonizing playoff defeats in the late-90s, and actually know who Harold Miner and Glen Rice are. I'm also a Dolphins and Marlins fan, even with their relative lack of success for a while. And no, the Heat don't have this locked up, and I don't take anything for granted. I made the mistake of thinking they had it in the bag in 2011 but they ended up losing to the Mavs. It's just the fact that they're much better all around, coupled with other teams' best players dropping like flies, that makes it seem more and more likely. There's going to be teams that will beat the Heat in some games during the playoffs...it's just that they have to beat them four times that makes it such a daunting task. I do predict the Heat will play the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals (I think the Pacers will beat the Knicks...) and that's going to be a better series than whatever team the West fields.
  9. It really doesn't. The Thunder were a better team last season than they are this season and we saw what happened last year. And the Heat are much better this year, so yeah... I am a little worried about Wade, though.
  10. EJ will be fine, but i do think he needs to sit-and-learn for a year or two before he's thrown into a starting role (i.e., Aaron Rodgers). Brett Favre was a warm-weather quarterback with "ball-security" issues in college and he did alright in cold weather... MANY other examples there too...
  11. I've never been on twitter, I hear what Brett does constantly all over espn. Which to everyone In The world, minus a few disgruntled usf fans, is the world wide leader in sports. Not even close Guy is destroying his profession..it's ok to admit it. He better be rewarding his insider handsomely. He's got one or more people that feed him some really inside, administrative information. That's how he's able to break stories so well. I think he had his plant at USF during his time at Ma' Trib. He had a few current and former players that fed him info, plus one staffer I'm pretty sure of.
  12. I could see left tackle being worthy of a first pick (i.e., Orlando Pace). Offensive line is the single most important component of any team. The best place to acquire and build great linemen is through the draft.
  13. I wouldn't be surprised if Stuart Scott doesn't even know who Brett McMurphy is.
  14. Yeah, I kind-of get what you mean about the Miami fanbase. They're very fickle. I will say this though...the Heat fans are much better than the fans of the other sports teams in Miami. Marlins fans are probably the worst, followed by the Panthers and Hurricanes fans. Dolphins fans are okay. Being an avid fan since the mid-90s, it does pain me to see bandwagoners that didn't give a **** about the team during the 15-win season, for instance. It all comes with the territory, I guess. If they don't know who Glen Rice or Tim Hardaway or PJ Brown is, I have my answer as to whether they're a true fan or not haha.
  15. The scary thing is the Heat are a much better team than they were last year. There were times even last season when it was agonizing to watch their half-court offense. They've gotten their offense down pretty well this year and they're still a great defensive team. The additions of Ray Allen, Chris Anderson and even Rashard Lewis gives them great depth that they lacked the last two seasons. Plus, everyone should be rested and quite healthy going into the playoffs. In the East, the Pacers, Knicks and Nets are the only teams that can potentially beat the Heat. The Knicks rely way too heavily on Carmelo, three-point shooting and their defense is still anemic. The Nets have an elite point guard and a solid center (which the Heat don't have) but still not nearly enough to make a difference. The Pacers play tough basketball and can hassle Miami but again I doubt they'll win more than two games. In the West, either the Thunder, Spurs, Nuggets and Clippers will be good enough to survive to play against the Heat. The Spurs, as always, and old and more injury-prone than most teams. They still play great team basketball, just still not good enough to beat the Heat. I don't think the Thunder are as good as they were last year. Losing Harden took away a lot of intensity coming off the bench. The Nuggets have a great home record and had a long winning streak, but they're another player away from being an upper echelon team. They're also one of those good regular season teams that get knocked off in the first round. The Clippers may surprise some people and end up winning the west. They are solid at all positions, have two elite players, play well on both sides of the ball and have a good bench. They did lose all their games against the Thunder, but I think the Clips will be a better playoff team. Sure, the Heat will lose some games, but the question you have to ask yourself is: "Are there any teams that can beat them four times in a seven-game series?" I think not. Pending any major injuries, the Heat should easily repeat.
  16. I think it'd be a good pickup if he opts to come here. The extra competition and his experience wouldn't hurt.
  17. That, and his dad coached at WVU for some time before coming to FSU. He probably would've gone to WVU instead of FSU if his dad stayed there.
  18. I don't think so. I've only seen his garbage online.
  19. That chick Joakim Noah's been doing alright since she's been in the league.
  20. The 1972 Dolphins were a "unique bunch" too, but they'd likely get destroyed by all of today's NFL teams. I do think the 1971 Lakers would stay competitive in the game, but I don't think they'd beat the Heat. The Heat would've been the fastest, best outside shooting team they've ever played. And I disagree that Wilt would dominate in any area, at least in terms of scoring. His scoring was highest when he was facing competition that was 4-5 inches shorter, slower and less agile. When he faced any other great centers from his era (i.e., Bill Russell, Willis Reed), he was held completely in check. When the league became more competitive in the early 70s, guess what? His scoring numbers started to fall. I do think he'd still be a great rebounder. That never waned throughout his career. in the 70s wilt's career was winding down he played against russell all thru 60s and scored easily russell was surrounded by the best players of the game and that accounted for their championships almost every nba team a real center in 70s--it is true wilt was stronger and more agile willis reed didnt hold chamberlin in check sorry to report--that is a funny post. imagine if they didnt change the rules of the game for wilt I never said Russell and Reed shut down Wilt. I simply said they held him in check, meaning they'd have similar stats. Wilt almost always out-rebounded them, though. Russell typically played Wilt better due to his great defense, but also don't forget Reed won MVP over Wilt in the 1970 Finals. BTW, I'm not trying to bash Wilt. He'll always be one of the NBA greats. I just don't think he'd be nearly as dominant today as he was in the 1960s. I think he'd be more on the level of Dwight Howard before his injury (20-25 ppg, 15-20 rpg), sans Dwight's defensive ability.
  21. I haven't seen his vile name attached to anything meaningful about the Rutgers story. He probably came out from whatever hole he's in and took credit for the scoop. Maybe. He seems to think tweeting someone else's story constitutes "breaking a story". New media I guess. I know what it is really all about. It's smazza parroting The Sheriff's McMurphy tripe, because through all this bashing of USF McMurphy has remained friends with The Sheriff who remains and odd friend of smazza. I am friends with The Sheriff, but I draw the line. I'm not networking like smazza. McMurphy is a turd. I used to befriend the fellow, but I saw enough to make me pull away. I believe some others think knowing a guy at ESPN is a big deal. The Sheriff had a beef with Leavitt, he and I have talked about it. That's fine. No reason to gravitate to the unethical McMurphy but it is what it is. He's a turd and his unethical work in the disposal of Jim Leavitt is why he is where he is. Yeah, I can't believe anyone would befriend that guy. I met him a few times while at USF and he gave me the creeps. He's the worst kind of journalist that tries to uncover dirt on people by using and pretending to be friends with people in the know. Leavitt saw him for what he was but made the mistake of being aloof and, at times, treating him like the dirty journalist he was. These slights made McMurphy make it his personal mission to take down Leavitt. Unfortunately, Leavitt gave him some ammunition to do so.
  22. You are correct ...It was made public.....But WHY was it made PUBLIC.....Penn State covered it up for years... Insults are a fact of life in the locker room...they are used to get a players attention and to try to get them excited and focused.....I can asure you that the Half time in a locker room can be very unpleasant. The trick is to find the right balance...and some coaches are better than others......I take no offense to homophopic insults...."What are you a sissy" is as old as the hills...I'm not saying this or defending this but any player who has gone from Pee-Wee to College ball has probably heard it 100 times.... IMO there are plenty of "KINGS" in waiting looking for a high paying position in Rutgers...and pulling lots of strings and making phone calls... IMO the Abuse is a TOOL but not the reason... Ha ha. That's a good one. I do wonder if there's even enough merit to have a .gif of a guy hitting his head against the wall.
