For some reason, I could have sworn that this was a rule. Let the speculation begin on where he ends up! i thought the same thing, but they actually can. However, they'd have to sit 1 year (like any other transfer), but would also lose an additional year of eligibility http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/athletes-can-transfer-within-american-but-at-a-cost/2137227 That's a wierd rule. If he wanted to transfer from Cincy to USF, it would actually be better for him to spend the intermediate year at Pearl River rather than here. Harris Teeter has it locally.

Since he's now got 3 of 5 years of eligibility, if he transferred to USF, that shrinks to 4 (not sure why the NCAA would even allow that rule) and he'd have to sit out next season (his 3rd year). That would leave him to play his senior year. If that's true, not good for Coney or USF (unless he's like Russell Wilson for Wiscy...but Wilson was already an established starter). Doesn't seem right, but the either way, AAC transfer is punitive. Clearly his best route is to JUCO, and if he's good, get a look from a lot of differerent programs. Good luck to him...at least he's being honest about why. Hard to fault him for that.
