Hoping they are talking about the regular CBS broadcast not just the CBS Sports.

Huge difference, ain't it? The latter is almost like ESPN3 or something worse.

Only major difference between CBS Sports and ESPN3 is that CBS Sports is available on about 90% of cable/satellite distributors and ESPN3 is available on 0% of them.

ESPN 3 can be streamed via Sling TV. CBS Sports Network is coming to Hulu in some capacity soon as well.

ESPN3 can show up on my TV screen in any number of ways, but it's not a channel. That's what makes them two entirely separate things.

As someone who has cable, internet, and an AppleTV, its all the same to me. But both of them have their obstacles to overcome and won't reach everyone.

Here's the big frustrating difference. There are cable packages that carry CBSSports but sometimes it'sin an upgraded package. However, unless you have Frontier (in the Tampa area) you cannot stream it on the app. There is no Brighthouse/Spectrum option. You can't even stream it from your "watch your cable tv online" option. So if you're anywhere that's not at home or at a bar you can't watch it. For someone like me that sometimes has to work during games but can sneak a peak, that's what I hate about. They have no good way to stream at all.

It is the major network CBS.  But this is for one year only. CBS  needed filler for their basketball programming as the Big Ten is playing a week earlier in Madison Square Garden.
