Harlen has been outstanding. USF is very fortunate to have him.

if anything, our marketing and athletic dept look like they know what they're doing for once.

WTF? Harlan has been great on just about every area. He's made solid hires, introduced accountability, and kept the talent we do have locked in. Short of not firing Taggart, I don't know that there's anything to even question.

Harlan would have but it wouldn't have sent the right message to future coaches. With that in mind if Taggart fails this year he will be gone

Harlan's AD career at USF and his future will come down to one thing & that is  the next football hire and the success of the team in the next 3-4 yrs.   Willie is gone after this season if not mid-season and Harlan brings in his guy.

If Harlan doesn't have success at USF he will have a challenging time getting another AD job, he is only in his mid-40's so lots of yrs left unlike dougie. No success at USF and he goes back to a #2 guy, success at USF and he may be able to land an AD job at a bigger school.  In my opinion this one hire could define his career.

Harlan is changing the foundation of USF athletics. Early on there will be struggles, roadblocks, etc. but once his system is fully in place things will get better.

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
