I had been reading the big shares that were thrown around the SEC and the BIG 12 but didn't see anything for the American. Thank goodness for the BE exit money.

Here's what I was able to find:

Bowl Games: $30.6 million
NCAA Tournaments: $21.8 million
TV Deals: $20 million

Total: $72.3 million

(divided by 10 AAC teams in 2013-2014)

Interestingly, the New Big East:

Bowl Games: $0 million
NCAA Tournaments: $8.5 million
TV Deals: $41.7 million
Total: $50.2 million

The AAC and Big East form a sort of middle class, taking home some $72 million and $50 million, respectively, this year. The American netted a respectable $30 million from bowls, ranking just behind the Pac-12, and another $22 million from NCAA Tournament play, good for the second-highest among all conferences. It falls far behind, however, because of a TV deal with ESPN that pays just $20 million or so per year, a pittance compared to the $130 million-per-year deal it turned down in 2011.

Even the Big East, which doesn’t play football, gets more from its TV inventory thanks to a 12-year, $500 million deal with Fox. Of course, the conference was lucky that its exodus from the “old Big East†happened to coincide with Fox creating a sports-specific network that had a dire need for live sports programming. The Big East also scored a victory when the so-called Catholic 7 were able to take their basketball units with them; those units are attributable for $7.8 million of the $8.5 million the conference will collect from the NCAA’s basketball fund this year.

We need to consistently get 4-5 teams into the tourney.

We need to consistently get 6 teams into bowls.

This means some teams need to loase so others can win. We need great OOC victories but we also need some AAC bottom feeders.

The rest of the AAC would say the conference has one...

This also means when we schedule subpar OOC games so we can get wins to go to bowl games, people need not to ***** cause though playing Alabama and others would be fun we prob have less than a 10% chance of winning, so people need to decide would you rather play a big time programs get your ass blown out of the stadium or play a MAC school win and go to a bowl game......

How about a mix of both?

USF 2015 class will man handle strong OOC opponents.

In 2007, this would have never been a question.

I'd rather us play Bama every year than the Elons of the world. Edited by Sellular1
