I grew up in Jamaica......played cricket years before HS baseball. Fun game, those dang leather covered cork inner cricket balls are as hard as rocks. There is a reason the have a helmet and huge face mask while batting.

 

If you swing and hit the ball poorly, the bat vibrates your wrist like  a mutha. I was never able to develop a good swing, but I could hit singles all day long.

 

Yeah that ball is hard. My dad grew up in Pakistan and they caught those balls with their bare hands. I don't even want to know what it would be like getting dinged by a full speed one by Dale Steyn or Shoaib Akhtar. Probably would cause organ damage if not for the padding. I have one for self defense (ball sock! SIX!)

I love how this national championship has turned this board into a cricketing hot bed. My two favorite sports, all on one board. This is such a pleasure.

Yeah, pretty much exclusively. The US doesn't have one day or test status at the international level, so it's not feasible to really play it. To be honest, as far as building skilled players, that's a little bit backwards (because generally you learn the game playing over several hours a day, daily, rather than in a 30 minute batting spell), but it's cheaper and the field restrictions make it easier to play. 

 

God I love cricket. It's such a fascinating sport for nerds like me.
