got a third row seat in the nice seats last night... about half court. The women played awesome and the freshmen and sophs are playing great, bright future for the women's bball team. My wife enjoyed the tournament type atmosphere and she usually only enjoys men's sports. I would say last night's game was pretty fun and one of the few times a USF team played up to expectations... Very impressed with NCAT's band as well. It was fun to see the interaction of the football players that attended... One player that participated dunked the ball during a fan participation event... Very entertaining game and will be back to watch the game on Sunday

We need to win, in sports that matter.

Winning in other sports besides MBB and FB is great, but it doesn't matter.

Not a knock on our great softball team, great wbb team, great golf team, great tennis team, and our baseball team that's off to a hot start. It's just the truth.

Our soccer team isn't too shabby to boot.

this happened.  Went to the USF campus and saw 2 wins in one night.  WBB played an ugly game but won.  Play on campus again on Sunday @ 2pm.

Walked over to the baseball field and the score was tied 1 - 1.  USF had the bases loaded with no one out but couldn't push across a run.  But they did score in the next inning on a sac fly.  Jimmy Herget carried a no hitter into the 7th I believe.  Was told UConn scored an unearned run in the 6th.  Someone should say this now because it won't last.  USF baseball is undefeated in Conference play.

No WNIT games are being televised until the championship game.  Hopefully USF will be there.

Nobody cares about the women's NIT...or the men's NIT for that matter. It's the tournament for 65 place....

There are about 350 teams in Division 1 basketball. Honestly, the best 3-5 teams in the WNIT are really top 50, because the NCAA is clearly not the 64 best teams in America.

Our football team went 2-10, our men's basketball team ended the year on a huge losing streak and finished last in the league.

Why throw stones at WBB?

For the record, I care, about 1000 other bulls fans seemed to care in the crowd. NCA&T cared enough to travel a band and mascot (first visiting band for WBB I can ever remember).

Why rip on Hem?

While he could have said it in a less hurtful way, his first comment is really what it comes down to.  The two sports that matter most are Fball and MBB. WBB and rest are light years behind in terms of interest and revenue.  They're nice and fun, and can make us feel better I guess. But we need football and mens basketball.

Hem shouldn't have negated the or discounted surprise born of the two actual wins that CR and RTB got to experience.  And truth be told CR and RTB both know those are nice wins, but won't carry the load at USF.  We should recognize those wins, but we all know we need to find success in Football and Mens Basketball in that order of importance.  But we all know that.

That said we are 5 Months, 8 Days, 7 Hours, 8 Minutes, and 29 Seconds from kickoff.

Agree completely .... and if he'd had left it at the first comment, I doubt there's any ripping.

Eh, rip all you want but it's the truth. I don't deal in tiptoeing.

Not only does it not matter to me, it doesn't matter to the rest of the nation (except players who play USF in those sports). And it doesn't put USF in the discussion of national relevance, which is what our school needs.

When's the last time you heard schools mentioned on ESPN, cbs, fox, etc BC they have a great soccer, golf, or softball team?

When it comes to relevance, it's about two sports in college. Men's bball, and football.

What do you think of nationally and sportswise when we mention these schools:

UConn

Duke

FSU

Miami

Va Tech

Wisconsin

NC State

Memphis

Maryland

Louisville

Hell, any P5 school (even some in our crap conference)

[Here's the answer: Football and Men's Basketball]

Ask an average joe walking down the street what he thinks of these schools, it will go to sports. And those two sports. They are relevant because of those two sports and their success in them.

The old Olympic Sports argument was on of the Woolard backers' finest arguments before the Facilities argument.

Bleh.

But WBB is probably a tier hire than Baseball because how we've spoiled that opportunity.

As Judy mentioned our nonrevenue sports are decent enough. Mbb and fball are broken as eff

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
