Just drove to Blacksburg yesterday. It was freezing and looked like there was not much there other than the college

Not sure if good or bad, doesn't sound real positive to me. We certainly aren't a "college town". Wait till he gets a load of Lincoln.

2014 Village Academy Kevin Bronson said he liked Virginia Tech, calling it a "college town."

College towns are overrated I got to see some of the craziest stuff in my 4 years on fletcher, fowler, and Bruce B Downs. Especially at the Walmart on Fletcher.

If you swap in a cornfield, everywhere there's a still, you have his next stop in Lincoln. I'd say our chances just skyrocketed. Kid get a bird's eye view of 'Merica.

He should also be thinking, "Man, is my family gonna want to fly & then drive a bit to get to my games?  If I go to USF, they drive over & back same day!".

You guys get a little ridiculous about the locations/weather of these campuses. These kids are going to spend at least %80 of their time on campus/outskirts of campus and these 2 specific campuses are nicer  than ours. I don't think college towns are overrated, 18 year olds love them. Having said that, I don't get a good vibe from Bronson.

FIFY. Mr Bronson and I are are simpatico when it comes to Blacksburg. Place is a hole, but for campus. Clearly he's looking for more out of his college experience. For Chrissakes, read what he wrote. He kicked em in the family jewels right after leaving campus.

He said that he liked Virginia Tech - what am I missing? Are you saying that calling somewhere a "college town" was meant as a slam? I don't think most would view it that way.

I think the location DOES factor in for many players.  Some want to get away from home, some want to stay closer.  That's not disputable.

As to which campus is better, that's in the eye on the beholder, which is why I think these kids should take all the OVs they can before committing.

I know Hokies, and they are mixed on the area (but they are engineers, and loved going to VT).  Nebraska is like WVU.  Football is EVERYTHING there, so rabid fanbase and tradition surely favor Nebraska.  Truth is, he really can't lose, whatever he chooses...and that's a great place to be.

Agreed...unless the lack of gushing makes you feel better.  Who knows with this guy.  What'd be say about USF?

Scout says he's got Nebraska & Vandy next week. Can't do both, so I suppose Neb is it.

College towns are attractive because everybody in them has some connection to the college and caters to it. Athletes are also worshiped in said places...they are stalked by fans like paparazzi.
