What Scouts Say: "Very good athlete as an attack-minded fullback … Provides good service from left back and combines well … Good on the ball and will do well for a team that needs a left-back option … Reminds me of Marc Burch, but might have more potential because he's stronger physically … It's unclear how he will do defensively in the league, 1 v. 1, but he knows how to play his position … Someone will do well with him."

He'll be playing in Columbus.

The draft is still ongoing, so more USF guys may be taken later.

Kind of a shame he went this year.  Sounds like an ideal fit for Orlando City's system.  Maybe he'll end up in Orlando at some point over the next year or so.

So the first day of the draft is done, with no other USF players being drafted. The third and fourth rounds will be on Tuesday (very strange that the two days are not back-to-back).

The whole MLS draft is very strange.  There is a world wide market for soccer players.  And most teams now have their own youth academy to develop their own players outside of the college system.  They can also draft players from the lower leagues (USL, PDL, NASL) that were previously unaffliated to an MLS club.

The development of players is more like baseball in that even most players coming out of college are projects that make or may not work out and will spend a couple of years toiling as cheaply paid reserves trying to prove they are more valuable than that.

I think it was 20th. JPP may have been top 10 but I am not sure.

Jeff Cunningham (soccer) was 9th.

I'm happy for Ben. I always enjoyed watching him embarrass defenders.
