I have no good memories of that debacle... thanks for reminding me things weren't so great under CJL either!

Come on dude, it was Oregon not McNeese State or FAU.

CJL was a good coach - but it really didn't matter if he had 3 hours or 3 months to prepare his game plan was about the same.  Oregon came out and with a bunch of new wrinkles, confused the heck out of our defense.  We ran our stock offense that they had schemed against for 6 weeks.  Oregon was a good team - we may not have won that game.  But what I remember about CJL's tenure was there were lots of games we just didn't compete - and that was probably the most prominent.

That was a great road trip. Spent a lot of time with the board rats (MikeG, Bulliever, BullDoug, BullHeaded, met Cousin Ricky) at the Bulls Pen fest the night before (that restaurant was about a block from the hotel which is very Jack Daniels get-me-the-trash-can convenient). .

Had some fun beforehand, headed out to the New Mexico desert for sight seeing, dinner with Lakebull & the Mrs. out at Cattlemens, the wife won a couple of hundred bucks at the casino. Took a jaunt into Juarez. Hadn't been there since back in '80. First time there was when I was TDY from fort Ord to Fort Bliss. Trust me, much nicer today compared to then.

Gameday was good...caught the shuttle over the stadium. I bought two tickets through USF and another two on-line. I ended up selling my through-USF tickets to some other Bull. As is often the case, better seats online but did the obligatory "support the home team" thing. The game...well, not really so much what I'd like. We flew out shortly after the game and stopped over in Vegas. Transferred the casino winnings from El Paso to Vegas (seemed like the right thing to do). Had some interesting conversations with a couple of Oregon players who were also flying out that evening.

One of the all time great road trips.

I would imagine hundley will go pro and will get a hard look from the bucs. Bridgewater, bortles, and manziel will likely be gone before the bucs pick, and if the bucs can get lovie smith that means jeff tedford will be the oc; and he will want a qb. Tedford produced or coached quite a few first round qbs, including some dude named aaron rodgers.

I bet the bucs could convince hundley to come out

Went.  Had a ****(gosh darn) good time.  That city really embraces it's bowl game like none of the other bowl games I've attended.  The Bullspen meetup was fun, too.

That was a great trip.  It was so much fun spending time with the herd. It was a meaningless bowl game, but Oregon really kicked the snot out of us.  It felt like big time college football, playing Oregon.

Judy and Doug stopped by the TBP get together that the members here put on.  It was a great time.  I hope we soon get an opportunity to do it again.

I thought Hundley was going to announce at the end of the game if he was declaring or not. I haven't watched all of it, its on my DVR. He looks ready. He's big and strong, throws a good ball and knows when to run.

Oh, a just a bit of personal trivia. 34 years ago today I was in the Rose Bowl Parade. High school band from Riverview (Sarasota). What a trip that was. Unfortunately we didn't get tickets to the game, it was  Ohio St vs USC. It was one of the most watched college football games of all time. I was a junior in high school. Later that year, when I was a senior, we were in the Macy's Day parade.

He said the same thing bridgewater and manziel said: talk with family and coach and enjoy the win

Oregon, led by it's 5th string QB, kicked the poop out of CJL's "#2 BCS ranked" team!

Hard to imagine we were actually favored in that game ... That probably didn't help Oregon's mood, either.

Leavitt never took bowl games seriously, he saw them for what they were.  Frustrated the fans.

Didn't he get double the money for a win?
