Looks like we have no shot at Yearby/Cook, and I haven't heard about any RBs that are leaning to USF.

So...that leaves us with a current class without a single RB (I have to assume Jarvis Stewart has no chance).

For an offense built around running, this makes me nervous.  I know we have Tice & Davis (unknown as D-I feature backs), and McCray as a RS Freshman, but I don't think we have much else...so this is clearly a position of need.

Any ideas, Bulls fans, of our top targets, and our chances to land them?

Last year was the year. The state was loaded. They got two good ones, but they need some game changers.

I think for the offense the o line and receiver is a bigger need.

I agree with you both, but...the 3 RBs at the top are fairly unproven (I've mostly given up on Pierre).  They have size, but breakaway speed seems lacking.

As to the OL, hoping we get some JUCO guys late, and some of the young guys step up (what happened to Max Long?).  Looks like we have 2 pretty good WRs coming on board, and some athletes that could play there (Fulwood, to me, seems like a possible flip to WR...he's got good hands, and YACs are impressive).

I'd like to see at least one breakaway back this class.

I know they're recruiting Johnson out of Immokalee pretty heavily. He was a North Carolina verbal commit until somewhat recently. Baynes and Senat are working mightily to get him to come over to the green and gold.

D'Ernest Johnson

Trevon Walters and Ish Witter (both Mizzou

commits, trying to flip one)

Someone posted on Johnson's thread that he's likely headed to Lville (FWIW).

And Pierre.  So we have four RBs for one position.  Until two days ago we had three DEs for two positions.  It would be great to get a top RB, but DE is a far greater need.

As I posted earlier, I think Pierre is a non-factor.  41 carries for 114...2.8 avg (61 v Cincy when Shaw went down).  That's HORRIBLE (can't blame the OL, as the top 3 averaged over 4 as a group).  I just don't see him helping us, while the other 3 should.

He has very little experience at the RB position.  While I don't think he will be our #1 next season, he is probably the only home run threat on the roster.  So I think we'll see him more next year with additional experience and Shaw gone.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
