Not heavily offered, and listed as a 2 star. USF & UCF didn't offer, but Purdue, Boise St and TCU did. Seems like he played a fair amount as a RS Freshman at TCU, which had a pretty good defense, if I recall. I think a 3 star JUCO is typically a more known entity than a HS 3 star, as they've at least played at the next level. I like this pick up. I think Godwin remains a starting safety, but Byrd could be the other. May nudge out some others on the cusp, like Childs. But you can't have too many safeties (as we learned before the UCF game). We need some intimidation in the secondary. Great pick up! I thought Joyce & Jenkins would rule the secondary as sophomores, but both peaked then, sadly. Limited tape I've seen of Byrd is impressive.
