We suspected the problem 2 seasons ago, we realized the problem last season. We addressed the problem this season. What can we do today to make it better? Change takes a little time and money. We only have one of those right now.

Simply put our guys need:

- More time to learn the system

- More time to bulk up

- More time to bring in guys that fit the system.

If in year 2 or 3 we are still only winning 2-4 games then it is time to call the HC into question, but for now as much as it sucks we have to see it through. It is not as if we can just go pick up some new guys off the wire to make it work.

I heard the same stuff about Holtz and wait til he gets his guys, his system,  well how'd that work out?

Holtz did not take over a train wreck he created one.

Were you guys around during the Leavitt years?  Some of us were frustrated because we seemed to plateau.  That plateau seems like high on a mountain top these days.  That is where Holtz started.

Holtz orchestrated a steady decline.  Let's give Willie a chance to move us out of this mess.

Reminds me of something I found from October of last year, an outside observer's assessment of our fanbase back then .... but that post shows that it still fits perfectly now for some:

"They are a 15 year old program who has lived a pretty easy life so far. Like a sheltered, upper-middle class teenager, USF has benefited immensely by geographic and demographic circumstances, and has grown up in a world where they went from literally nothing to a competitive BCS program in 8 short years. In a football sense, their fanbase is pretty **** spoiled. And as we know, kids who are spoiled tend to be short on patience, and don't often know how to deal with adversity when it finally and inevitably hits them in the face."

Right on, Not to mention CWT is taking the program in an abruptly different direction then what they have been playing. If there was any glimmer of hope this weekend it was seeing Bobby Rainey do his thing on Sunday. That is what I hope to see at USF in coming years.

I think our fan base knows how to deal with adversity all right -- they just find something more entertaining to do.  I don't think anyone is going crazy over USF's miserable performance -- they just aren't showing up.  That is the way it will be for 99% of programs in the country - it isn't a Tampa thing or a USF thing.  Look at Ball St, Akron, Miami (OH), FAU, FIU, Duke, Colorado St, etc.

No go back to some of our better seasons when we'd loose a close game and fans leaving the stadium wanted to fire CJL -- those were spoiled immature fans.

Who are still around and talking about only giving CWT through next year to turn this thing around ...

Speedy it does take time to get the type of player you want to execute a specific type of offense or even D.  Problem I have is (IMHO) it is the job of a good coach to recognize what talent he has on the team and modify his system to match that talent until he gets the talent he needs to run his system.  I don't know that Coach has really done that or if the talent is really not there at all.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
