What? O'Leary bagged over from last night?

They had to take an early flight back because they start camp. While somewhat understandable, it just doesn't look good for your new conference. They should've known ahead of time and made arrangements to be on "theamerican.org". IMO it shows no respect for your conference and your fellow conference mates.
Totally inexcusable. Either start camp later tonight or tomorrow or let the assistants start the first day. Two kids and the HC missing for a couple of hours on the first day won't have any impact on the season. What a moron.Way to be supportive of the coference.
Do you all even follow this stuff prior to what you read on here or even football in general? The conference and media were well aware of UCF's schedule. UCF starts the season on a Thursday this year, thus allowing them to push camp back earlier than most others. Camp is far more important for the head coach and actual players to attend, than the friggin' AAC media day. But UCF was still there in R.I. for it and GOL was interviewed this morning, along with QB Blake Bortles. UCF and GOL were the first session so they could get to the airport for their flight back. Nobody was snubbed. Jeez, some of y'all are so quick to jump to conclusions, before even reading ahead. Did you actually think UCF was going to snub this thing?
That is a B.S. reason. This is the first media day for a conference that is gasping for attention right from the start. Like him or not, O'leary is a recognizable, senior Head Coach in the league. Not being available for a broadcast podium session is a stupid move. You can't tell me the league couldn't have worked with him to put him on early and he could have been on a couple of hours later.

This conference is trying to step up to the next level. Imagine if Saban or Meyer or Spurrier or any other big name coach missed a media session like this.

Sorry, when you sre trying to create as much publicity for the league I think missing a chance to show his face is inexcusable.

it would be funny if saban had to coach a Thursday night game

Man I'm really feeling this I-4 corridor rivalry. I mean the animosity has always been there (more from UCF than USF, to be honest) but I think USF is going to get more into it going forward. This could get rowdy.

Its all in your (parrot) head.

Great interview with Andre Davis via Greg Auman at Big East errr... AMERICAN Media Day.  I appreciate his honesty about the failures of CSH (what a dope) Not the most politically correct answers but I love it. I have a feeling that this season is going to be better than most of us expect.  I was coming into this season expecting a 6-6 at best, however, now I am expecting BIG THINGS. Tomorrow I may come down from this high but for now, Let's go win this AAC!

Tuberville is talking more about the SEC than the AAC.

I wonder if he mentioned this about our SEC neighbors

B.S. I personally witnessed 2 interviewers with theamerican.org on the backdrop, specifically say that the ucf contingent did not speak with them. All of the other coaches did, and many players. Jeez, I saw it with my own eyes and heard with my own ears. No need for me to read ahead.

UCF's session was in the morning, dude. Your own Greg Auman was there and posted updates from it in his blog today. Get with it and pay attention to what's going on. From his blog...

"NEWPORT, R.I. -- Commissioner Mike Aresco has touted the renewed USF-UCF rivalry as one of the great new things to come with the American Athletic Conference, and as the league hosted its annual football media day, the two head coaches traded barbs in what will only build as the Bulls and Knights prepare for their meeting in Orlando on Nov. 29."

Not exactly true. Taggart mistook O'Leary for the men's room attendant and gave him $1 for opening the door for him.

O'Leary was at the podium and was broadcast on ESPN3. The session was earlier today. He also had his QB, Bortles there. They were up there the past few days. He'll, UCF's AD played golf with writer Pete Thamel and Cincinatti coach, Tommy Tuberville, yesterday. UCF represented up until they had to leave this morning. What more do you want? Taggert and O'Leary even traded funny barbs. From Auman's blog today....

"UCF coach George O'Leary, asked about how he's gotten to know USF coach Willie Taggart, started the fun by challenging USF's ambitious recruiting goals, which include keeping a presence in his backyard.

"I was laughing. He got there and he said he's going to own the I-4 corridor," O'Leary said. "I said to him 'Obviously, you've got to go back and look at your geography.'"

Taggart, smiling later in response, said he knew what he was saying when he said it, and his goal hasn't changed.

"We're doing a pretty good job at it, too," said Taggart, who has six of his 12 commitments for 2014 from Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. "We're doing what we said we were going to do when we came here. I'm a football coach. I'm not into geography and all that. I think it's good for the state when you have something like that, good for both universities, to go out and compete against someone you don't like too well," he said. "It's always good to compete and have rivalries. I think that's what college football is all about."

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
