We're taking about a former NBA player and a millionaire here. I love Chucky; he's all Green N Gold. It's people like him that make me so proud to be a USF Bull. GO BULLS! At least when they first get here. Last time we got one, a Super Bowl trophy came to town less than a year later. USF MBB national title this year FTW! He would be such an asset on the recruiting trail in the state of Florida. In the meantime while Chucky finishes up his degree, Heath needs to have somebody in place that can recruit the state, especially the Miami area. Charlton Young really needs to be added to this staff, unfortunately while he is still free, FSU is rumored to be looking at him now that one of their coaches just took the Head Coaching jov at Stetson. Imo getting Young is what this program needs to finally have a chance to excel and maintain in CBB. Coach Wells and Coach Rocc can run the offense, defense, and be in charge of player development. Young and Atkins can take care the bulk of recruiting, and of course Coach Heath can/will get the credit. Should be a winning formula as long as Coach Heath stays far away from the offense and player development we will be fine.

He'll be a student manager ... Lets be honest though, a GA is the same as a student manager with a different title and more experience.

Well in this case he seemingly gets more responsibility and interaction than a traditional GA would get, as he should. I'm just saying, not a big deal his official title is Student Manager, not Graduate Assistant.

According to a report by Orlando sports radio host David Baumann, Atkins will join the University of South Florida basketball staff as a student assistant. Reports indicate he will be a student manager for Bulls coach Stan Heath while working on finishing his undergraduate degree. Atkins did not immediately return a phone message from Bright House Sports Network. Atkins, an 11-year NBA veteran, led Evans to the 7A state championship game last season as the Trojans finished with a 20-8 record. His NBA career included one season with the Orlando Magic. Atkins played at USF from 1992-96 and was inducted into the USF Hall of Fame in 2012. Atkins could join one of his former players at USF. Dre Clayton, a 6-6 forward who played two games last season for Evans before suffering a torn Achilles, signed with the Bulls and is expected to be on campus this summer.
