3-2 win. Currently sitting atop the Big East standings as Louisville/Rutgers are playing now.

Another **** dog pile lol. Good sweep though. Should clean up the next few games against UCF, Alcorn State and Stetson. Solid matchup against UConn in a few weeks.

USF has played 3 teams picked to finish in the bottom 4 of the conference so far. Good news is they're 7-2 in those games. Bad news is that it gets tougher going forward. At least they don't have to play Louisville.

Good win today. Solid starting pitching. Need a little work on our bunting.

Nice to be sitting on top heading into our conference bye week.

TAMPA –
James Ramsay hit a walk-off single en route to sweep No. 26 Pittsburgh with a 3-2 victory on Sunday before a crowd of 1,024 at USF Baseball Stadium.

“I’m just proud,” said head coach Lelo Prado.  “When you sweep someone in this conference, you’re doing something right.”

Ramsay went 2-for-5 with one RBI.

“It’s huge to get sweeps in conference games,” said Ramsay.  “I just looked for my pitch and fortunately I was able to hit it in play.”

Right-hander Joey Lovecchio got the start and pitched seven innings.  The senior gave up two runs on six hits and no walks.  Lovecchio struck out a career-high nine batters.

“I have all the confidence in Lovecchio.  He’s going to be great for us.” Prado said.

Reliever Lawrence Pardo pitched one inning and earned his second win of the season.  Pardo (2-0) walked one batter and struck out three.

“Our bullpen was outstanding,” said Prado.  “Pardo did a great job.”

Jimmy Falla gave the Bulls a 1-0 lead in the third inning when he hit a RBI-double to center field that brought home Kyle Teaf.

Falla went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s and Teaf 0-for-2 with one run and three walks.  The shortstop has successfully reached base in 26 straight games.

Pittsburgh answered in the seventh with a 2-run homerun to centerfield by Steven Shelinsky Jr to put the Panthers up 2-1.

The Bulls answered in the eighth to tie the game at 2 when Falla singled through the right side to plate Mendez.

USF will face UCF to wrap up the two-game home and home series 7 p.m. Wednesday at USF Baseball Stadium.  The Bulls will return to action 7 p.m. Friday to face Alcorn St. for game one of the three-game home series.

“We have UCF Wednesday and we have practice Tuesday so we just have to get better,” Prado said.

We catch a huge break not having a 3 game series with Louisville.

Thankfully Pitt gave us yesterday's game.
