Tulsa is the only serious candidate.

Long term projects like ODU, UTSA, and Charlotte could be candidates in 3 years or so.

UMass is also mentioned, but they bring NOTHING.  Zero fans in the unpopulated western half of Mass, with no stadium.  ODU and UTSA have huge season ticket bases in major metros.  Worth looking at down the line.

Of couse it's all moot.  USF will be in either ACC or B12 within 3 years.  Gauranteed.  It's highly likely B10 grabs at least 2 more ACC teams, and when that happens, the ACC will backfill with BE teams.  There is one more major shakeout.  I see B10 grabbing 2 ACC teams, which will cause the B12 to go to 12 with 2 ACC teams, and possibly SEC to grab 2 ACC teams.  USF is a shoe in under that scenario for the ACC (aka BE 2.0), assuming they don't go to B12 with UCF.

If its true the new conference is the American 12/XII, who is the 12th?

1 USF

2 Cincinnati

3 UConn

4 Temple

5 UCF

6 Memphis

7 Houston

8 SMU

9 Tulane

10 East Carolina

11 Navy

12 ???

And what are the chances of pushing Navy and ECU to full members, or finding 3 other full members to add stability?

ECU is still football only?

No.  Their AD has already stated they will be invited for all sports.  Aresco has hinted at this also.

We should stop focusing on the market.

This. Tulsa doesn't suck that much.

We need to stop worrying about market like we did with Tulane and get the best teams possible. Our TV contract is gonna suck, and who cares how big the market is, if no one in the market cares about that team.

How about Army?  Yeah, I know things didn't work out for them a decade ago.  But I'm not sure that Tulsa or UMass add any more than Army would, and at least it would make the Army-Navy game a conference affair.  Adding Tulsa would wreck a divisional geographic split.

North: Army, Navy, Cincy, UConn, Temple, ECU

South: USF, UCF, Tulane, Memphis, SMU, Houston

IMO, we should be looking for full members to add stability. I think that was one of the things that was the downfall of the Big East, having members who had no interest or stake in the football success, and adding affiliate members for just football only made it worst. Twelve full members for football and basketball should be the goal.

Not a bad idea. Now that we're no longer a "BCS" conference, Army might want to join. We should sound them out.
