We run ruled Marshall 8-0 today in 5 innings. Lindsey Richardson threw a no hitter, facing 16 batters and striking out 9.

We play Michigan tomorrow at 4, and Samford 30 minutes afterwards. FAU on Sunday at 1:30. 

Come out!

Some observations from today's game.

 

1. Steph Messina, 1B, looks like a totally different person.  Must have lost 20 -30 lbs.  Almost didn't recognize her.  Wow.  Looks more like an athlete.

 

2. Kenshyra Jackson, 3B, looks different as well.  Think she has lost some lbs.  Not as drastic as Messina but noticeable.

 

3. Kourtney Salvarola, SS, showed some real pop.  Doubled over the CF's head and had one caught at the top of the wall in left center.

 

4. A Fr, Erica Nunn got a start.  Don't remember what position she played, if she was in the field.  Tall left handed hitter stroked a line drive to right center in that last inning. 

 

5. Was surprised that Lindsey Richardson got the start until my wife pointed out that she is a Senior.  I thought she was a Junior like Nevins.

 

6. A decent turnout by USF fans for a 2:30 start time. 

 

7. Heard lots of fans from the other teams in the tourney just going gaga over our facilities. 

 

8. As 0208 pointed out above, Lindsey pitched real well.  Don't think they put a ball in play until the 3rd with a soft liner to 2B.  K'ed the rest to that point.

 

On  a sad note, I walked over to the men's side and was watching BP and saw one guy swing and miss with his 2 swings in the cage.  Oy.

8-0 in 5, huh?

 

Looks like we've got bats, pitching, and defense. Hope we just keep on getting better - all season long.

 

Omaha or Bust!  let's get that Championship!!

Not many chances in the field, but what I saw looked tight - no bobbles, no errant throws.

Also remember that we play Michigan tomorrow. Erikson likley wanted to have Nevins ready to go for that tomorrow.

Stephanie Medina losing weight will make her more agile at 1B and will help her swing at the plate. That's awesome that she put in the work to transform her body - it's difficult at her age playing a sport at her level to be able to pull that off. Looking forward to seeing her play as well as getting quality AB's. She's beast mode when she connects with the ball. What a great start to the season!
