As long as we're wallowing in the fantasy mud...

Let's s'pose USF does manage to find itself in the ACC.

Then the B5 decide that B4 is a much better deal and the ACC is outside looking in.

Are you still content with being in the ACC, or is the real bottom line nut that you think

USF should be seated with the movers and shakers?

Personally, I'd be fine with that. Driveable away games to schools like Ga Tech, UNC, Duke, NCSU and UM as compared to driveable games to UCF, ECU and UAB? Pretty much a no brainer ... and that's before you throw in the awesomeness that is hoops.

I'm with Trips.

I don't really care about access to National Championship games. Rught now, I'd like to see us in a Conference Championship Game.

Fair 'nuff, boys. Thanks for playing along.

I too would much rather find USF in the ACC for the same reasons as outlined above.

And I also believe that - to date - we have done nothing that warrants inclusion. Growing

up in NC, for me, this would be ideal...road trips all along I-95 and Duke / UNC hoops.

That being said, I think it's going to be a while - as we claw our way to mediocrity and beyond -

in CUSA-II before that invite gets slipped under the door.

I dont understand why USF would be opposed to Pac because travel sucks, even in old Big East USF had to fly for everything. Hell with WVU you had to fly into Pitt and then drive 2 hours south.

I'm glad we had a chance to play at the BE level of competition and collect BE level payouts, but we didn't belong there either.

Our true home is the ACC, we just have to figure out a way to make them believe it.

ACC would be easier to travel to games... I can see in 3 years or so that the ACC will be the Big East 2.0 +/- a few teams

They are already looking like the Big East 2.0... they are trying to bring in basketball schools, and have lured Notre Dame in with the same deal they had with the Big East, give or take a few more games.

Once FSU, Clemson, VT, UNC, and Virginia are poached then I can see the ACC bringing in a bunch of Southern teams from the new "Conference America" trainwreck that we belong with. I'd like to say that we would be part of that 5 team group, but only time will tell. If we fall flat on our ass again like we did under Skip and UCF has a couple good seasons then who knows what will happen.

Right now winning is everything.

Agree 100%. Winning has to be our focus. Conference realignment is a distraction, really, because there isn't really anything we can do about it other than try to position ourselves for the next realignment, whether that happens next week or in five years.

CWT's attitude about realignment reflects this - just win, and everything else will take care of itself. If we're winning regularly and igniting the fanbase, it'll be very hard to pass us up, given our other advantages (market, location, etc.).

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
