Blah. These basketball schools mean ****.

It is estimated to be a 15-20% loss to our TV deal.

Only if you're the lunkhead, football only type ...

Come on Trip. Was Georgetown or St. John's bringing anything to the table? Not really. Basketball was a big reason for all this crap in the first place. They didn't want to expand to strengthen football.

Not saying it wouldn't have happened, it just doesn't help.

The problem is that we have nowhere to go right now.

I know it has nothing to do with actual on court entertainment for the ticketed fans anymore but as a fan I'd rather us play georgetown, villanova, st john's etc then tulane, ecu, smu, etc.

On the football side it changes nothing if Boise and SDU want to go back to 800,000 a year for sports they can but even without the B-ball schools our contract will be better than that. Heck CUSA got 2 million. MWC has no markets. While we will take a hit it won't be the end of the world. It just comes down to who gets the auto b-ball bid, name and the NCAA credits. Now b-ball will take a hit but really Georgetown, Villinova, St Johns and Marqutte are the only b-ball schools worth much. The other 3 are no better than UCF. So we take a hit but we have 9 big market schools left to build on.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
