  1. (being completely objective on this) When comparing Miami and UCF jobs, it has to be more than just money an athletic department can pay. Facilities, OCS, indoor practice field, room for growth (facility expansion), fan support (loyalty/nut huggers), access to recruiting grounds, etc.. Based on all of the above, I would have to say UCF > UM. And not just for the above listing. One would have to think, if UCF gets the right guy for their program, that guy could be the one to either help the AAC become part of the discussion (Power 6), or, possibly take them to a P5 conference when realignment rears it's ugly head again.
  2. Just answered the question I was about to ask. How much of this is flowers and how much is the resilt of the O line?
  3. Looking over the schedule and based on sample size, I originally figure about 3 to 4 wins at best if they can get a couple of breaks. However, there was a statement made today with actual numbers that are going to make me change that though and think MAYBE there is a chance to squeak out at least 5 wins. USF Football â€@USFFootball 42m42 minutes ago . @CoachTaggart says both QBs played well in 2nd scrimmage, completed 83% & 79% of passes, respectively
  4. Jimbo needs to release this guy. As soon as the news broke on E-$EC-PN, the author was automatically linking the incident to JW5. With the scrutiny that FSU is getting because of these idiots doing stupid things like being under age at a bar in line to buy drinks.......Johnson needs to be released all together, not just suspended. Apparently there is video footage that TPD has that shows Johnson was the aggressor in this. Time to send his butt back to Titusville.
  5. No bowl, 3-4 wins at most. This is a long rebuilding process.
  6. Not even memphis? They have a fantastic defense. Nope. Ohio State won last year but Reynold and those Fullbacks and OSU's #. Look at what Reynolds did to ND as well, a game they should have won against an overrated ND squad. When healthy the guy is near unstoppable. 7 Rushing TD's against San Jose State (record holder). Also holds the record for 31 Rushing TD's by a Qb in NCAA history (as a junior). Navy's losses last year came as Reynolds was playing hurt. The best chance anyone has angainst Navy next year will be due to injuries and a limited defense. Ken Niumatalolo has done very well with Navy's restrictions in recruiting and the commitment these players must make after their 4 years are done. Do not be surprised if Navy makes that run next year for the AAC title. That modified triple option is a beast to defend.
  7. Not beating the Naval Academy. Top 10 teams struggle against them. I would not be surprised if Navy makes a run at AAC championship. Looking over the land scape of the conference, I really do not see that stand out defense that can stop Keenan Reynolds and the monster full backs.
  8. There will be no expansion by the B12 for at least 5 years. If I remember correctly that is when the TV contract between the B12 and FOX ends. When that happens, FOX could demand the B12 to expand. Presently the money will not allow for the B12 to expand. Even despite the fact they got snubbed with TCU and Baylor for the playoff. The B12 programs are not going to give up any portion of their $20-$25M end of year conference pay out. Would you be willing to sacrifice a portion of those millions in order give it a smaller program? Now if the playoff committee snubs the B12 again, then maybe there could be more weight behind possible expansion. Until then, get comfy. Nobody is moving into the P5. The best thing that members of the AAC that want to move up can do is win. Beat these P5 teams when they play. Not just beat them, smack them in the mouth on their field. That will increase the national brand which will increase national viewers and provide a bigger draw. So when TV contracts are up for renewal, the AAC programs have a better chance at jumping up into the P5. Or what else could happen is the AAC forces them to become a P6. As Ric Flair would put it, "If you want to be man, you have to beat the man."
  9. This was actually a very good hire by GOL. TBH, I did not think the defense was that bad this past year. There were moments of pure frustration. That's what one gets when playing a lot of underclassmen. Seeing the move from the 4-3 to the 3-4 I believe was not a desired choice, but, more a necessity due to personnel. I could be wrong though. I suspect the departure of Bres from Tampa was more to do with happenings within the staff than majority of us know. We can only speculate on that and listen to what Voodoofive mentioned with the "clashing with other parts of the USF football office" . Knowing that GOL and Bres worked together while at GT and the NFL exp, I think he will fit in well at UCF. At least until GOL decides to retire. Word around campus is 2017 at the end of his contract then the keys will be turned over to Brent Key. There is one big aspect I was really curious about regarding Bres at both USF and now at UCF and that was recruiting. Did the guy even leave the office and go on the road while in Tampa?
  10. Looking forward to Navy coming in actually. As a USN Veteran, I have always rooted for Navy. Especially when they smack Rudy around.
  11. Chad Morris has his work cut out for him. SMU is in some bad shape and add in the lack of fan support, yeah.......long road to rebuilding here. One thing though, they are in a good recruiting location and with Morris' ties to the State, he "should" be able to bring in some kids. I would suspect a 4-5 year building process there under Morris. Of course, this is all dependent on his assistants and how much money SMU will be willing pay for those assistants. Hopefully the SMU loyals will treat Morris better than some USF fans treat CWT in his rebuilding process and wont call for his head after year 2 with only one true full recruiting season.
  12. There is no fire or passion or meanness coming from the offensive line. That is where it all starts. Poor line play means poor skilled player play do to no time to run plays which means more time the defense is on the field and getting worn down giving up points. Fans need to keep in mind that there are 19 true freshman in a 2 deep rotation. That is very telling. If the team does not win, it is what it is. However, have the players and team progressed in positive aspect from week to week considering their youth? This is where the problem has been. Poor offensive line play and getting pushed around leads to a demoralized skill position and an exhausted defense.
  13. I am going to go a route here that will probably get me blasted. But so what. CWT needs 5 years. Like it or not, this is a complete rebuild. This is not a situation where a general contractor can replace flooring in a building and put up some drapes and think it is good to go. Not when the foundation is rotting and mold in the walls. In order to build a sustained program for years to come, the team need to be gutted. Just completely torn down and rebuilt with the limited talent that was left. Very limited talent. Presently the youngest team in college football right now is Tennessee who are playing 23 true freshman in rotation. USF is second with 19 true freshmen within a 2 deep rotation. Elements of the previous coaching staff's lack of talent players are still around (see the Bull's offensive line play). I mention TN because the situations are similar here. After 3-4 years of horrible coaching (Holtz vs Dooley) the product that was left was a complete disgrace to the teams from previous years. Year one of the new coach is bringing in freshman and trying to complete a rebuild with those freshman while trying to root out the give up attitude from the previous coaching tenure. Now the process for TN will not take as long as USF since they have the financial support and media coverage while not being pinned down in the G5. But I believe the end result will be the same. Now, after year 5, if there is no conference title, then time to go. USF has issues. Just look at the product on the field and the people in the stands. Winning changes everything. But in order to win the team must be completely rebuilt. The foundation to this rebuild should be the offensive line. But, it looks like CWT is going for skilled players first and glossing over the OLine problem. Fix the Oline fix the offensive issues + get the defense off of the field = win games. Win games leads to greater attendance which leads to OCS which leads to P5 in about 10-15 years when expansion comes up again.
  14. All season when one for the 4 teams I root for have been playing, I sat there from start to finish and no matter how bad they played, never have I turned off the TV or walked away. This game against Houston was the first one. Even when FSU was down at the half on Thursday night I watched the entire thing (and to my surprise a very impressive comeback in the second half). When Navy was down 28-7 I watched until the very end and witnessed a #10 team getting their butt's kicked in the second half (Go Middies). However, with the offensive line play of USF, I cannot stomach it. The play of the Offensive line is the problem. Just like it is the problem in Tallahassee-FSU, Gainesville-UF (with the exception of this past weekend), and Orlando-UCF. The offensive lines inability to.....BLOCK anyone in general puts the defenses in bad positions. If I remember correctly was the 1st quarter time of possession like 10 some to 2 something in favor of Houston? Why? The offensive lines inability to get a push and provide proper blocking for the skill players to move the ball down the field. CWT wants to run a power offense. OK fine. USF has the skill players to do it. Several bash Whites ability to QB. I do not think White is that bad. White is pocket passer through and through. When given time to throw the ball and time to go through his throwing motion, he can place a beautiful pass right where it needs to be. The issue with White is his ability to throw on the run. And when he does have to run it is because of the lines inability to pass block. The biggest issue with CWT's desire to run the power offense is the offensive lines inability to block anything. Fix the Oline, fix the offensive issues. Thinking of it just now, is the Oline not all that is left of the Skip Holtz debacle?
  15. And how much of this is on E-Sec-PN? Silence. 16. I hear from several people say that Muschamp is bad. I do not know if I can go along with that accusation. I think the issues in Gainesville are deeper than just Muschamp. More of a institutional problem with regards to Boosters. I was listening to interviews and the topic of Urban Meyer at UF came up. What I learned is that the stress from the Boosters to Meyer was so great, just to be able to get some form of sleep he would have to mix scotch and Ambien together. So when the claims of health issues arose, they were partly true. This was news to me, never knew that. Also when one looks over the 2006 UF roster where they won the natty, one will see that at least 40 of those players have been arrested since then for some form of crime committed. Well that would leave me to question the criminal element that was brought into the institution. Combine the possible criminal element with the stress from the boosters to win at all cost, one has a recipe for some serious problems. Until the program is addressed from the top down and the Boosters are pushed back, I am not sure the UF issues can be fixed anytime soon. I look at Muschamp's defenses he puts together. He can get talent and build a defense. What was it, 149 yards Mizzou put up but scored 43? The defense did their job. That's why I am not sold on the idea Muschamp is bad. I think if Muschamp was at a smaller place without intrusion into the program from Boosters like at UF, he would excel. Be it a G5 program like USF, UCF, ECU, etc... I do not think Muschamp is the problem though, I think UF institutionally is the problem.
  17. He is going pro. He and Jimbo have stated that he will stay through his Junior playing season. When they made that statement I just laughed. Not going to happen. With the issues going on with JW5 and all of the allegations and student code of conduct, he will go pro after this season. So next year will look good for a 3rd year seasoned team for USF going to Tallahassee. FSU has had a problem recently. That problem is having players not finish their time and go into the draft early. This leaves a void of exposure from seasoned players to new recruits. One can see the start of this problem really kicking in this year after the Natty last season and the exodus to the NFL.
  18. That one is a bit long winded, however, provides a complete story. Unlike the E-SEC-PN and NY Times spin.
  19. Good article. http://perrydube.com/2014/10/15/its-time-for-fsu-and-its-fans-to-embrace-the-role-of-the-villain/
  20. I highly doubt JW5 will get expelled. The only reason why this is even going to the Conduct Board is due to the complete lack of a spine by this interim president to stand up to media pressure. Even the autograph investigation has nothing to do with the possibility of receiving monies for signatures rather a thought of it. But, this entire thing here is media driven. Since Ghurley at UGA was caught on camera signing memorabilia in a parking lot in a car, media like E-Sec-PN have automatically tied JW to it. No proof of financial transactions, no proof of a dealer coming out and stating that they have evidence, only lots of merchandise with his signature. Well, so does Mariota and Hundley, and multiple other players. Is JW an idiot? Yep. Big time. An immature circus clown that needs to be the center of attention and strives to be the center of attention. Now whether that attention is good or bad, it does not matter. End result, everyone is focused on JW. I have been following JW really after the sexual assault charges. Did he assault that girl? I do not think so. Not based on testimony's and evidence. Now could have individuals within TPD and FSU perform a "cover up" of the situation. It's possible, I do not think it could be ruled out. But, if one is going to make that statement, they better have the proof to back it up. Now why do I think this is media driven? Well, it provides ratings to TV and clicks on their websites which relates to $$$$$$$$$$$
  21. Its on CBS Sports Network. Does not show any online service though. LSU amazingly has the best weekly game coverage listing. http://lsufootball.net/tvschedule.htm
  22. While at Mellow Mushroom for some pie on Saturday, I showed my Alumni Wife. Needless to say she shook her head and said, "Oh god no, those are ugly." Now the Matte Green was not bad IMO. The thing I could not stand on that helmet was the logo. Its too big. Needs to be reduced in size down to normal sizing. The shinny gold..............................ahhhhhhhhhhh..........................................No.
  23. Try this, The next time you go to Publix and get a philly. Have them make it with the London Port Beef instead of the standard. It's freaking awesome!
