It seems TV market is a key driver behind these moves but does it matter if no one is interested in the school's teams? Take Temple for example, they reside in the 4th largest TV market but have only 4,600 students and Philly has a plethora of other big league sports teams. How do they add value?

They have 38k students, but only about 5k care about the team.

Today, the big east went from bad to worse. We are screwed if we end up stuck here.

Well at least the basketball team can pick up another easy win or two.

Maybe they'll bring back Perry Clark and "The Posse" ...

Temple has over 35,000 students.

You're right, my apologies.

Not to be funny, but who's even in the BE now for 2014-2015? I've lost track.

And, wasn't there supposed to be more ACC news yesterday? Like the GOR? Which BE team was getting a lifeline, etc.?

It's not about the number of actual viewers of the games, per se, it's about the number of cable households in the viewing area that can be used to strong-arm the cable providers to add their content to the basic cable charges.

This has been my point the whole time with all this. Glad to see a semi quality ECU get the nod today. Temple is just garbage.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Big East is setup like this...

2012

- USF

- Temple

- Pitt

- Cuse

- Natti

- Rutgers

- UConn

- Louisville

2013

Eastern Division:

- USF

- UCF

- UConn

- Louisville

- Natti

- Rutgers

Western Division:

- Boise State

- Temple

- Houston

- San Diego State

- SMU

- Memphis

2014 (All assumptions as to where the 2014 teams will end up)

Eastern Division:

- USF

- UCF

- UConn

- Louisville

- Natti

- Rutgers East Carolina

- Navy

Western Division:

- Boise State

- Temple

- Houston

- San Diego State

- SMU

- Memphis

- Tulane

- (Fill in Blank) -- Big East wants BYU, but will likely end up settling for Fresno State, Hawaii, Colorado State, Utah State, Tulsa, Air Force, UNLV, or Nevada. Personally I would prefer either UNLV or Nevada myself if we can't get BYU. UNLV would be a biannual trip to Vegas, and Nevada would be a biannual trip to Reno. Hell if it was up to me I'd add both UNLV and Nevada and call it a day since both make for awesome vacation spots.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
