DOUG WAKE THE HE-LL UP and Fire this Peanut Gang already.

He has already been on record as saying he will make no decision until our season is over.

Well it better come down Saturday around 10:15 pm. They can hand out the firing press release as all 12,000 of us exit the stadium.

Since Spurrier was mentioned.

He would turn us into a winner, recruiting would be top of the conf. And we would be over 50K in the seats on year one.

Spurrier would be a home run hire. Don't think we could grab him. I would take Zook though.

Spurrier may want to come back to Tampa to close his career.

Lol no he wouldnt, he would want to win a NC

Frank Spaziani out; Boston College head coaching candidates emerge
pdf_button.png printButton.png emailButton.png

Posted by: Pete Roussel on November 25, 2012

With Frank Spaziani out as the Boston College head coach, another coaching search has started.

Sources tell me that Boston College wants to target a proven head coach.

Danny Rocco (Richmond - head coach): In his first season as the Richmond head coach, Rocco led the Spiders to an 8-3 record while claiming the Colonial Athletic Association championship. He previously served as the head coach at Liberty, where he led the program to six consecutive winning seasons and four Big South Conference championships. Rocco is a former Boston College defensive line coach under Tom Coughlin from 1991-1993.

Sean McDonnell (New Hampshire - head coach): Sean McDonnell is 88-55 in twelve seasons at the New Hampshire head coach. In the last three seasons, McDonnell has led his program to 28-11 record. He was the 2005 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year and three-time New England Coach of the Year (2005, 2008, 2010). McDonnell served as a grad assistant at Boston College in 1988. He served on the Boston University staff from 1985-87.

Mike Sherman (Miami Dolphins - offensive coordinator): Sherman is in the first season as the Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator after four seasons as the head coach at Texas A&M. Sherman (57) is from Norwood, Massachusetts. His parents live in Cape Cod.

Darrell Hazell (Kent State - head coach): In his second season as the Kent State head coach, Hazell has led the program to an 11-1 record. Kent State will play Northern Illinois on Friday night in the MAC championship. During his career, Hazell has coached at Oberlin, Eastern Illinois, Penn, Western Michigan, Army, West Virginia, Rutgers, and Ohio State. The last minority head coach (major sport) Boston College hired was basketball coach Al Skinner.

Houston Nutt (former Arkansas and Ole Miss head coach): On the surface, it seems like a stretch because Nutt has not coached in the northeast region, but don't be surprised if he enters the mix. Nutt (55) is a three-time SEC Coach of the Year.

Pat Narduzzi (Michigan State - defensive coordinator): Narduzzi (46) has done a terrific job as the defensive coordinator at Michigan State. He is originally from New Haven, CT. Narduzzi once coached at Rhode Island from 1993-1999.

Danny Hope is out; potential candidates emerge
pdf_button.png printButton.png emailButton.png

Posted by: Chris Vannini on November 25, 2012

After four seasons, Danny Hope will not return at Purdue, sources have confirmed to CoachingSearch.com.

Hope took over for longtime coach Joe Tiller in 2008. Although Hope reached back-to-back bowls in 2011 and 2012, his overall record at Purdue is 22-27 (13-19 in the Big Ten).

The Boilermakers were expected to compete for the Leaders division title this season, with Ohio State and Penn State both ineligible, but started 0-5 in conference play. However, there were last-second losses to Notre Dame and Ohio State. Hope will receive a $600,000 buyout and wide receivers coach Patrick Higgins will coach the bowl game.

Although it's early in the process, here are four names that could be in the mix at Purdue.

Dave Doeren (Northern Illinois - head coach): Doeren has guided the Huskies to 11 straight wins after a season-opening loss to Iowa has a chance at a second straight MAC championship. Although he's only in his second year as a head coach, he has ties to region, having been Wisconsin's defensive coordinator from 2006-10. Doeren admitted earlier this month that he would listen to potential job offers if something good came along.

Darrell Hazell (Kent State - head coach): Doeren's opponent in the MAC Championship Game will be Hazell and his Kent State Golden Flashes, who are looking for their second conference championship in school history. Since a 1-6 start in his first season last year, Hazell has won 15 of his last 17 games, including an 11-1 record this season. He also has ties to the Big Ten, having coached the wide receivers at Ohio State from 2004-10. He also was the assistant head coach under Jim Tressel from 2005-10.

Randy Fichtner (Pittsburgh Steelers - quarterbacks coach): The Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterbacks coach since 2007, Fichtner is a Purdue graduate. He worked as a student assistant and graduate assistant there in the mid-1980s and returned as a wide receivers coach/recruiting director from 1994-96. With Purdue being known as the "cradle of quarterbacks," a coach with experience handling pro quarterbacks would certainly be appealing to recruits.

Chuck Martin (Notre Dame - offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach): Martin has plenty of ties to the Midwest. Along with spending the past three seasons in South Bend, he took over for Brian Kelly as head coach at Grand Valley State in 2004 after four years as the defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach. As head coach, he won two Division II national championships in 2005 and 2006.

These names are pretty weak if you ask me! Holtz would be the way to go IMO!
