is being talked about a bunch up here ... sports talk radio guys are talking about bringing him in to play CF for the Braves if Michael Bourn leaves ... which he's expected to.

Fan reaction appears to be mixed ... most would rather us get Justin Upton, since we have a need at 3rd base now.

What's the latest word down there on B.J? I've always thought he's a guy that needs a kick in the pants every now and then to get him going ... a bit lackadaisical - still the case?

He's like the BJ Daniels of baseball. For some reason, you're always expecting more with him and it seems like every year is going to be his breakout year.

He turned down $13 million to play another season with the Rays.

As a Braves fan who also likes and follows the Rays, I think he could make a good replacement for Bourn and might fit in better with a NL club. Great fielder and has speed on the base path. His one question mark, like most of the current Rays, is his hitting.

The pitching staff will love him. The guy covers lots of ground. The Rays will miss him. By all accounts he was a great teammate.

I'm not certain that the Braves will play $13 million for him. If they're going to pay that much, I'd rather they keep Bourn. No question marks on Bourn's hitting.

Will definitely be interested to see what happens.

I will not argue with the money part but Upton is one of the best defensive CFs that I have seen. Most balls out that way rarely hit the ground of get over his head. I think people who are detractors have been disappointed in his inconsistency at the plate. If I had a good pitching staff and did not need a reliable bat at that position, I would consider taking him because of his defense.

He always seems to hit when it counts, I'd take that over numbers any day

Absolutely agree with the posts. BJ is a great defensive CF who people have expected more of at the plate. He hasn't been a superstar, but if you look at his stats against the average CFer and he is an offensive weapon. Couple that with his defense and he one of the best CFers in the game. I love what Bourne has done for the Braves offense, but the Bravos would do very well to replace him with BJ.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
