Their thought was that there is a 0% chance Holtz will be fired. This same person broke the Leavitt story to me a few days before it hit the press. We will see... Although it may be therapeutic to rail "Fire Holtz", the rational position is that he's not going anywhere at the end of this season. Next year, a different story. I am not - by any stretch of the imagination - one of the "character is more important than winning" type of people who seem to embrace "he's a nice man" as an excuse. It's football, and where the rubber meets the road, it's about winning. He knows it. Doug knows it. And the expectation going forward (next season) is that this streak of losses comes to an end. We're looking at two back-to-back years of no post-season play, two back-to-back seasons of losing records. CSH...like all coaches...will be retained until his utility is exhausted, a decision that rests with the AD who, as of the contract extension and all that that entails, seems to be willing to weather losing seasons as a part of the development process. Ain't saying I like losing, far from it. But I also don't think Jesus sent his resume to the AD in hopes of miracling USF out of the current situation. So, until the final game of, at least, the 2013 season, CSH's access card will continue to work as designed.

Gamble? What's to gamble? The extension alone signals that this is the direction we're going for the foreseeable future. This season is a wash, 3-9 or maybe 4-8. Other than some fantasies and wishful thinking, I've yet to hear of any coaches lined up to take his place. I'm not saying you have to like it...just that I'm putting my money on CSH being around until THE NEXT BEST THING, and that won't be entertained this season. Oh, and if I turn out to be wrong, you know how to reach me.

Cosh has to go for sure. We need to get back to our normal dominant style defense. Sadly with a mediocre defense we'd be sitting at 7-2 right now challenging for a Conference Title. COSH MUST GO!!! STOP THE BLEEDING!
