Using the final timeout after we moved the chains was honestly one of the most boneheaded calls I've ever seen. Particularly from a guy who should be very aware, walking on egg shells even, regarding his game management.

Time and again this offense rally's back toward the end of games after a bad start. I don't think it's a bad start from the players though, but the play calling. If we're aggressive the entire game we could run teams out of the building. This would allow the team to cover up for Skippy's obvious deficiencies in counting time outs and seconds since they wouldn't be so critical.

Have we ever spiked the ball to stop the clock? ^^^^We should of spiked it after both of the first downs.

I was onto this guy ever since we didn't use timeouts in the low scoring crapfest Miami home game. I don't get the time management philosophy really.

Disagree. This is so easy to say now, but we had 3 opportunities to punch it in from the 1-yard line, we should have gotten it in. Not like we were going up against Alabama's defensive line. I liked the call to go for it, didn't like the play call.

I was talking about the extra point after the touchdown with about 8 minutes to go.

I agree with going for it on 4th down from inside the one.

Ahh, you're right, reading comprehension isn't for everyone, right? ;)

I agree with this statement from the posting wholeheartedly:

"One of the recurring themes in the GameThread was that USF football lacks enthusiasm and passion right now, and it seems to stem from Skip's personality and ripples all the way through the fan base, if not the team itself. I met a USF colleague for dinner on Friday and used the word "diffident" to describe the feeling we both get from Skip....You could say a lot of things about Leavitt's teams, but they were never diffident. People post on Facebook and on message boards that they want Leavitt back, but I think they really want the attitude and the charisma back. The underdog, chip-on-our-shoulder mentality fed the whole fan base and brought everyone back for more, even after the most brutal losses. That sort of attitude doesn't exist on Skip's teams -- even when they were ranked last season, it didn't feel the same. This program can't run on its own energy yet. It hasn't been around long enough or been successful enough. It still needs someone out in front to rev the fans' engines. Instead, we get diffidence."

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
