War Flamingos

I bought 2 inflatable flamingos.

I'm going to bring them to the game on Thursday.

Can someone give me a brief history of the "War Flamingo" so I know what to tell people when they ask why I have these things?

FLAMINGO

an inflatable version of a large aquatic bird (family Phoenicopteridae) with long legs and neck, webbed feet, a broad lamellate bill resembling that of a duck but abruptly bent downward, and usually rosy-white plumage with scarlet wing coverts and black wing quills :mythically appeared at University of South Florida sporting events(particularly football) in the year 2007 after defeating the #17 ranked Auburn Tigers in Auburn, Alabama :the war flamingo has become a battle cry for some at USF while also infusing an exotic aspect to the games that very much reflects the region and nature of south florida :flamingos in the wild are social animals that thrive in tropical and sub-tropical climates, like Tampa, Florida.

A school tradition isn't suppose to be SELF SERVING for one individual. War Flamingo failed in week one when not one was spotted at the UTC game. It reminded me of the frats only showing up for ESPN games in basketball over the years. Why didn't the frat boys show up for other games supporting their university? For one, they got nothing out of it... no face time on tv, no free t-shirt, etc. War Flamingo was gaining steam and approval coming into the UTC game... many of us figured why not give it a chance. Instead, we had total Flamingo Failure. Just my two cents.
