This playoff could start the next wave of expansion. Boise now has to consider if it needs the BE or not as well. An undefeated BE team's best shot at the playoff is hoping that all the Super Conference leaders have 1 loss. If not They will all get the invite before any BE or most ACC schools.(FSU, Va Tech and Clemson might get in against some of the other Big conferences). BE is really in no better shape than the ACC or Conf USA in this new playoff system. Time for our Pres and AD to step up and get us in one of the Big 4. Conferences will go to 9 conference games, which leave 3 OOC games. Take the 1-2 Patsy/ cupcake games, and that leave one game to fill. Alot of schools have the Non conference Rivalry game like FSU/ UF, ND USC ect... so scheduling will be much harder in the coming years.

Or.....since the playoffs are determined by a committee of people and there are fewer OOC games, do schools now look to fill those 3 games with "BCS" trsmd to boost their SOS and build a more impressive resume? We won't need any marque OOC matchups as long as we have UCF on our conference schedule.

Reliable Source Posted June 27, 2012 Group: Member Topic Count: 731 Content Count: 10,367 Reputation: 170 Days Won: 40 Joined: 09/15/2008 Share Posted June 27, 2012 Let's play "what if". If USF goes 12-0 with wins against ranked UL, UM and FSU. Do they get in? Of course If Alabama goes 11-2 with losses to Auburn in Conference Championship(CC) and unranked UT during (RS) do they get in? (I say doubtful) If USF goes 11-1 wins BE and loses in Miami to a ranked UM team, in? (I say likely but not certain) If OU goes 10-2, loses to ranked UT and unranked KSU but wins B12 championship? (It all depends on how heavily CC is weighted) The devil IS in the details. How heavily does Conf play affect the Committee? how much does SOS matter? Is a perfect record truly perfect. Prolly the biggest problem for the smaller schools with less rep, is that they start far out of the rankings. the greatest equalizer is, that they control their own destiny. We rose from something like a 40 slot to number 2 in a span of about 4 weeks of the schedule. granted a lot of teams, slipped and fell, but i think that the perceived bias against "less prestigious" teams is not as great as many would like to claim. That bias changes quickly and dramatically if you beat ranked teams and keep on winning.Lose and suffer the consequences. Look we have been fighting this bias for a number of years now and it never kept us from being able to climb in the polls. Losing in fact may hurt us, because of our history, not because of the bias. Sometimes all of us gaze in wonder at a Cinderella story. I want want to get that slipper.
