With this Memphis could afford to be in BE in 2012 if needed, they have the funding.

This makes me truly think Boise St won't be taking over for WVU in 2012 and comments from Boise St AD recently, but Memphis will be the replacement.

I guess Air Force said no.

That, or expect another Big East team to leave.

ummm...??

Why?

You do realize that after WVU, Pitt and Cuse leave we will be left with 11 teams:

Cincinnati,

UConn,

Louisville,

Rutgers,

South Florida,

UCF,

Houston,

SMU,

Boise State,

San Diego State

Memphis

We would still need a 12th

Navy

This is a bad move, we need football schools not basketball school. Memphis football is a vastly underfunded, pity screw of a chasm. They put no money or effort into fielding the team.

This sucks.

Wishful thinking. You're stuck with us until 2013. If the three other CUSA teams can't get out in time, Memphis isn't your answer.

Memphis has the same amount of CUSA football titles as we have CUSA/BE titles ... in other words, who are we to scorn. This whole thing has sucked since the Pitt/Cuse exodus, not sure why this would make it suck any more .... but having said that, this conference is probably just where we should be considering the age of the program.

Welcome to BigUSA.... lol...

Seriously though, I like the addition of Memphis. Plus it is an easy place to travel to and a whole lot of fun.

I am sure if AF doesn't join, it will be between Tulane, ECU, and Temple as the next possibles....

We put money into our program. We can scorn all we want.

Forgot about Navy

:P

That would make a perfect 12, without needing to drop a team.

Add AF and another team (Temple/ECU) for a healthy 14

..So I still don't see why this points to the BEast losing another team

But Navy isn't in until 2015. That would mean no championship game until then. More likely scenario is the BE going to 12 teams by 2013, then adding Navy and AF in 2015 or later. There has been lots of talk of the BE going to at leats 14 football teams.

Goes to show you nothing is going to change, this will always be a basketball conference first.

Memphis will be a great road trip. BBQ, Blues, and Basketball. (Football? Not so much, LOL)
