Picked us up over New Mexico State. Obviously we are trying to plug hole with all these JUCO transfers, hope the strategy plays out.

What I can't grasp is how potential recruits from HS and JUCO don't know we have an opening for CBs? With the season we had one would think kids would be beating down the doors to play here, to immediately contend for a starting job.

If they are that good, they are probably looking to play for a team in a major conference. Not as attractive an option here.

We have four CB commits, one is a four star athlete and two JuCos that know they only have two years to compete. That is pretty compelling evidence that the recruits believe the job is wide open.

Maybe that's the reason for no QB commits.

USF is a proven school to get defensive players in the NFL. If I were a good prospect and the starting job were up for grabs, I would at least send my video. Hopefully our coaches have found some diamonds in the rough.

Maybe we ought to recruit a 4th quarter defensive scheme for next season. Our guys seemed to be able to shutdown offenses for three quarters (Pitt excluded) and then fell apart when they went to the "bend don't break" scheme used by the DC in the fourth quarter of every darn game we played. I don't know that JC transfers can fix bad schemes.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
