And fans who skipped Friday's Laney-Josey contest to see how the Augusta Eagles would fare against Georgia Elite Christian, a "club" team that features 7' junior center and future University of South Florida Bull John Egbunu, were certainly not disappointed. The Eagles, a team of guards, none of whom are taller than 6'2" used multiple strategies to slow down Egbunu, who finished with 10 points, and teammate Micah Smith, a 6'7" forward. While a group of Eagles continuously clogged the paint to neutralize Georgia Elite's inside duo, they had to constantly recover to outside shooters like Georgia Elite junior guard Drew Davis, who also has committed to join the South Florida basketball program upon graduation. The most impressive thing about the Eagles' 57-51 victory was probably that it came after Augusta's leading scorers, Matt Miller and Austin Crown, went much of the first half without recording a point. The Eagles, normally a consistently good shooting team, only scored 8 first quarter, and 23 first half, points. Davis led Georgia Elite with 14 points, including 4 three pointers, and Egbunu scored 10 points in the loss. http://augustaeagles...-christian.html

Basketball Recruiting: IceBreaker Weekend Recap (USF note) William Gunterâ— 13 hours ago I have a small blurb in here on South Florida commitment John Egbunu who looked fantastic on Saturday. He did not get a chance to really display his skills as his guards dominated the ball and did not look at him enough but, Egbunu was strong around the rim, showed fantastic footwork and a mean streak that will help him in the Big East. With a couple more performances like that this spring I think Egbunu has a chance to move up to four stars. I came away really liking the future Bull. Stan Heath has a good one. There were few players that could keep him from finishing at the basket in one-on-one situations on the block. On top of that, Egbunu showed an aggressive streak, constantly grabbing rebounds that were outside of his area and making nice moves to finish at the basket. http://247sports.com/Article/IceBreaker-Weekend-Recap-68351

He may not want to face him for playing time. Its hard to be one and done when your fighting for mins.
