Also to note, recruiting rankings only go so far:

-Some teams have great recruiting and never put it together, while others can pull in average recruits and consistently compete.

-Some kids are overrated, and some are underrated. The transition from high school to college is just slightly easier than from college to pro, mainly due to the fact colleges still run gimmicky systems that these guys can be productive in. Some kids never pan out, while others rise or walk-on and develop into stars.

That said, I think USF could recruit a little better here and there, but it's honestly too early to tell. Holtz had a shortened class his first year that was focused on maintaining Leavitt's commits, last year was pretty decent but too early to tell with most (Andre Davis and Elkino Watson are for sure good gets), and this years' class is likely to be much smaller, so we'll see what type of guys we can get. We have plenty of talent, it just needs to be utilized a little bit better, and that is on the coaching, so perhaps in due time, we will get there.

In basketball we can’t recruit. In football (Big East rankings per Rivals), 2010 we were 5th, 2011 we dropped to 6th and even UCF out recruited us last year. So far this year we are 5th again.

Can someone please explain why a player would rather go to a Cincinnati, Louisville, and UCF rather than South Florida?

Indian burial ground, plain and simple.

Here we go again.

Let's see...USF vs Florida State. Which one is a household name across the country?

It takes years of sustained success to build a place where recruits fall all over themselves to go to.

There is nothing WRONG with USF. It just takes patience.

Something is wrong. UCF outrecruited us in football the last two years. They may have beat us in basketball recruiting as well.

UCF didn't out recruit us last year.

How about you go check out their current commits? 4 commits, two 3 stars, one 2 star and one unranked guy. USF? 9 commits, one 4 star, and 4 three stars.

Wrong, check you facts. As per Rivals; UCF #39 in the nation. USF did not even make the top 50.

As far as their current commits, that will change next month as it did last year. They started out slow and came back in the end to recruit a top 40 class in the nation. How can they do that and we can't make the top 50. As I said something is wrong.

They did out recruit us last year. But, they won't this year without David Kelly and with the NCAA sniffing around their program.

Well we just lost another 3 star and UCF keeps picking up. Something is wrong here....

USF: 21 commits- One 4 star, 12 3 stars, 8 2 stars.

UCF: 29 commits- Zero 4 stars, 15 3 stars, 14 2 stars.

They had 8 more commits than us, six more 2 stars. Stricktly ratings wise, there class was not better than us. Ours wasn't better, but just because they got more commits, doesn't mean they got better commits.

Also, this year, hears a quick update. UCF has THREE commits. Only ONE 3 star and ONE 2 star while one is not ranked.

BTW, I'm using scout.

And sir Troll. If you look at Rivals, USF has 2-4 Stars and 9-3 stars compared to 6-3 Stars for UCF. UCF ranks 10th out of 12 in C-USA rankings and USF has the highest recruit ranking average in the big East, even counting The Departed. And your last year's class is heading for the aisles in the soon to be sanctioned Mouse Bounce House, while we still have 4 and 5 star athletes transferring INTO our program as opposed to leaving in droves like Godfrey and Bostic. Snap. You know it's quite interesting that UCF has to recruit 28-30 athletes every year to maintain their 85, as opposed to our low number recruiting classes because we cherry pick the best transfers.Snappilicious. And finally a team that went 3-5 in C-USA and was only better than Tulane, UTEP and Memphis and only got into the Big East because they were 90 minutes away from USF really got no reason to be talking any form of smack on here. Snap, Crackle, Pop. I'm done with you.
