Auman just tweeted that Danies' arm feels much better. Still working with Eveld as the starter.

We could always go to the USF vs Oregon SUnbowl film to see how to beat a team with a 4th string QB. B)

Here's Greg's tweet that mentions an injury:

Holtz said he'll see how Matt Floyd looks as No. 2 in practice today, Tuesday before deciding if he's an option if Daniels, Eveld both hurt.

But he has said in numerous other tweets, and Holtz said in the news conference, that Eveld will be the starter if Daniels can't go on Friday.

That was the tweet I saw.... maybe I mis-read it... I thought it was implying that both were hurt. Then another poster came in with a sprained wrist... I haven't heard that but it seemed to fit. Most of the tweets I've seen since then that talk of Eveld starting were sent after I created this thread.

Look, I'm good if Bobby starts... He's much more accurate than BJ and has a better arm. In no way do I want to burn Matt's red shirt.

the fact that Floyd is even being mentioned speaks volumes about our depth, doesn't it?

we have BJ backed up by a former walk-on who is competing with a true freshman who is currently redshirting.

or of course we could move one of our most consistent weapons in the receiving game, Evan Landi, and put him back at QB.

no, really... this team is DEEP.

have a running back rush for 256 yards? no need for film on that one. ****, no need for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd string QB when u have a back like Jon Stewart.

This is the root of our problems. Little talent and less depth at the most important position on the field.

Why not Ryan Eppes? Isn't he the 3rd string QB, and he's not redshirted..

Because he's not good.

Well Holtz won't let him change positions, why not if he is no good.

i agree, for the most part. i think BJ is talented but not consistent. much of his talent derives from improvisation, which is by its very nature inconsistent and unpredictable. and after BJ we have no depth. we have a former walk-on (Eveld), a guy redshirting (Floyd) and a guy who never sees the field (Eppes). when a starting TE and one of our few experienced, consistent weapons in the receiving game is being discussed as a possible backup at QB, it really says something.

WR is the same story. we're starting a TruFr and a RFr out there receiving passes from a guy whose main talent (improvisation) is a horrible fit for inexperienced players who don't have the experience to know how to come back and make something happen out of broken plays.

yet despite all this, we have people on this board who insist we are loaded with world-class talent and it is our coaching staff's fault that we underperform and "do so little with so much." i'm still wondering where this "so much" idea comes from.

as someone stated in another thread (maybe cmhatter), we'll know we have depth when we can afford to redshirt a guy like Davis, or not even have to consider burning a redshirt on a guy like Floyd.

Ryan Eppes is a great kid. He's also about my size, something like 5'8" and 150 lbs. He's the emergency guy and sometimes scout team QB. He's not on scholarship. Loves the game, might be a coach someday. He chose to come to USF instead of having a chance to play at a DII or DIII school.

Much of the preseason tallk by some well respected members was about the amount of talent on hand this year. It's probably hard for others to find it was all untrue (according to others). Still, you're exagerating a bit. Not sure about the world class level - I think you were purposely ad libbing there.
