I saw this on another Blog and the Notre Dame option looked unique.

This seems like the best possible scenario.

West

Houston

SMU

Boise

Air Force

Navy

UCiF (or better yet BYU)

East

6 Holdovers

Only thing better…

Add Notre Dame only. Stay at 7 teams. Encourage ND to keep their NBC contract. Six conference games would give ND six OOC games and they could keep Michigan, USC, Stanford and Navy, Michigan State, Purdue, etc.

BE need a minimum of 8 teams to be a football conference...

Ok. 8 member schools = 7 conference games.

Notre Dame gets 5 Non-Conference games.......

Would that make the Irish happy and then save "forever" the Big East AQ status?

There can easily be a "rival/crossover" game each year for each team.  USF/UCF, AF/Navy, SMU/Houston, UL/UC.

I thought it was more along the lines of BYU saying they don't want to join the Big 12.

colorado and idaho teams in big east conference is ridiculous

a utah team would make it more so

it makes no sense to separate florida teams

the big east will rmeain the laughing stock

If you could entice ND then the 8th school could be just about anybody. Most any school would want to join for a yearly ciontest with ND. You could get maybe even a "Penn State" type school.....
