An excerpt from today's St Pete Times:

"In other FSU news, its opener Sept. 3 against visiting Louisiana-Monroe will start at 3:30 and the Sept. 10 home game against Charleston Southern at 6."

I know some people bash USF's schedule.  FSU is doing the same thing.  Many schools do it.

No one's bashing USF for playing a cupcake or two. EVERY BCS school plays a cupcake or 2. It's just FSU plays their cupcakes, then they're bringing in the consensus #1 team in the country for the 3rd week. USF has their cupcakes...then they bring in Big East competition and a lousy Miami.

So you're calling ND this year a cupcake?  Or did you type before you thought?

What would you call Ball State and FAMU??

Cupcakes, just like La-Monroe and Charleston ... What's your point?

I would hardly call ND or Miami (even in a down year, a cupcake school).  I also agree with the other posts in that most schools pick cupcake teams in their schedule.

This is a silly argument and none of this proves anything. We needed to schedule 5 OOC games and most teams only need 4. Beginning in 2012 one OOC game will be replaced by a formidable TCU matchup. The point concerning cupcakes was that our fans bash us for scheduling a few tune-ups when virtually every team in the country has a similar scheduling philosophy.

The only people that bash our scheduling are our own fans IMO

The only people that CARE about our schedule (to bash or otherwise) are our own fans

Since this discussion is only about USF and FSU, let's look at the average ranking of the teams on our two ooc schedules. USF's opponents averaged #111 and FSU's #101 ... Not a real big difference there in the overall scheme of things ... So what was your point again?

Of course, unless someone Quotes this, he won't see it since he appears to have me on his Ignore list.  :D

Hence my point.

I have no doubt about that, but they shouldnt be complaining now.  Sure, we have had a few years where the OOC wasnt very desirable, but this years schedule is nice and balanced.  It is just going to get better in the future too.

Masochist .... It's the only explanation. I'm working on it, though ...
