USF have had 2 great 6' and under QB's in its history. Maybe tradition continues.

our traditional, shorter, good QB's played in spread offenses where they were constantly throwing after scrambling around.  you don't need to be tall if you break up the pocket after a few seconds and run all over God' creation before making your reads.

eveld is a better fit than a shorter, fast QB

Floyd is 6'2" and Bobby is 6'5".....All of the O-line men we have coming in this fall are 6'3" and over...Moreover we do not run a spread offense anymore. I'm not quite sure why all of a sudden we offer a kid who is under 6 foot...If you want a real dual threat check out Faton Bauta. That kid is a manimal and he's not short.

He's considered one of the best QB's in the state, also it seems no one here has heard of things called, passing lanes.  Also it's not as if the shotgun is foreign territory to Fitch's offense, which is a multi set offense and not a straight up pro style offense like some like to portray it.  For those saying Eveld is a better fit, maybe for measurables but what really dictates a better fit is performance.  You can look the part all you want but it's what you do on the field and Patti's success and numbers at the 6a classification speak for itself.

Bull Dozer well said. Too many people look at measurables and not skills and heart.

Measuring someone from their feet to the top of their head says nothing about the size of their heart.

This kid's good, but from watching the video, I'm more concerned about him staring down the primary receiver than about his height. Hopefully he learns to go through progressions.

that kid may look good in film, but that's because he's running a spread.  if he doesn't fit the system, then there's no use trying to fit a square peg in a round hole even if the square peg is a nice one.

He fit perfect for the system we have. Because he's 5'11 he doesn't fit the system? Wow!

If it were as simple as you seem to think it is, there would be way more successful quarterbacks under six feet tall. There have been some in college (and like three in the NFL in the past 25 years), but not many. I don't think you really understand what passing lanes means.

Have you actually read anything anyone said? Because not one person made that argument. They made the argument that he's a spread quarterback, and USF does not run a spread offense anymore.

He must fit OUR system because Coach Skip offered. Or Skippy don't know what the hell he's doing.

From Rivals - USF has offered quarterback Nick Patti, click here for some more info: http://t.co/pjqOYBl

I understand perfectly what passing lanes mean's, they are the reason that every QB doesn't have to be a 6'4" to see the field effectively.  Thanks for building that strawman of an argument though.  Also we run a multi-formation offense that utilizes quite a bit of spread elements and is no stranger to the shotgun either.  With BJ being 100% healthy and having his quickness and acceleration look for us to use that, just like we would with a kid like Patti.  Also since the kid has an offer i guess that pretty much dispels the myth that "he doesn't fit the system", well unless of course you want to argue that Holtz likes to recruit kids that "don't fit the system" or that possibly you are better judge of what kind of player "fits the sytem" than Skip himself.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
