Man after the way this young man was treated in NM. I would be sitting in his living room. He is a serious football player, headed to the NFL one day. Come on Coach. I think Josh needs to give him a call.

Summary: Diminic Addison, rangy CB/QB from Spoto to become third Hillsborough County commit to BCU

Dominic “Nic†Addison, arguably the most athletically gifted player in Hillsborough County prep football will play for Bethune-Cookman University next fall.  He informed me that he will head to Daytona Beach this weekend for a face-to-face visit with Wildcat head coach Brian Jenkins where he will confirm his commitment to them.  The 6’3†180-pound dual threat Spoto High senior can do it all on the gridiron.  He completed 24 TD passes as the Spartan QB last season but will be a shutdown cornerback, the position he prefers, at BCU.  He ended his high school career with seven interceptions, but most teams did not dare throw in his direction.

Addison endured a disastrous trip to the University of New Mexico this past weekend that culminated in the bumbling Lobo coaching staff rescinding their scholarship offer.  Spoto head coach Dale Caparaso told me he was informed on Sunday by a Lobo assistant via phone that they now were taking two linemen and no longer had room for an offer to Addison.  Nic was still in Albuquerque with his mother and father when this call was made to coach Caparaso.  So instead of giving the news that he would no longer be offered to Addison directly, they relied on coach Caparaso to do the dirty work.  According to Addison it cost his parents “over $800†to fly with him to Albuquerque.

He said his mother is still furious but Nic seemed to take it in stride, saying, “It’s just business.† Coach Caparaso, however, was shocked.  He vented, “I don’t have a problem with New Mexico needing to go in a different direction but I have a problem with the way they went about doing it one week prior to signing day. Obviously they have no character, and no accountability and that’s why New Mexico was 1-12[sic].â€

Addison had previously given BCU a verbal commitment in November, but then reconsidered his options and agreed to take an official visit to New Mexico.  He joins 2010 Florida Mr. Football: Jefferson quarterback Quentin Williams, and Armwood offensive lineman Kevin Williams as Bay area players committed to Bethune-Cookman.  This infusion of premium talent from Hillsborough County should have the Wildcats in prime position to repeat as MEAC champions.

Doesn't appear there is much wiggle room in there to get him to join anywhere else.

How is the 2010 Mr. Football, Quentin Williams, a 2 star recruit?  6' 185lbs...is it his size?  Just curious how the 2010 Mr. Football ends up at BCC and not a larger program to at least get a shot...

He's probably around 2 inches shorter than officially listed.

The same reason Troy Smith won the Heisman and then was drafted in the 5th round. Just because you put up crazy stats doesn't mean you will necessary be a top prospect at the next level.

there has to be some issue if his only offer is Bethune now...

i've seen the kid play in person, he is good but where will he play on our team?

He is a shut down CB. We could use some depth and skill at corner, no question

The only way he'd get to USF is as a walk-on.  Instead he's going to BCU.  I wish him the best, but right now he's not a scholarship athlete at USF.

Obviously others disagree with your assessment.
