That program looks about as good as Miami's and thats not saying much. They need to spend good money and get a top notch D1 coach like Louisville and USF did.

If I were Pitt I would try to keep Wannstedt on as recruiting coordinator or something to that effect because he can draw talent, but they need a better Xs and Os guy and a much better game manager.  Wannstedt helping with the talent would be a good thing.

You really think he would go for that?  When you get rid of a coach, you sever the ties.  You can't ask a head coach to step back within the program.

Unless they make him the AD or something.  He might be more willing to stay due to his ties to the school, but you never know.  IF not then I would sever ties completely.  And if I were Pitt I might be looking across the state at Al Golden as my next HC.

Just reminds me of when FSU asked Bowden to be a figurehead coach that wouldn't coach the games, Bowden was like, "that's out. What's the other option?"  I think it's a slap in the face to a head coach to ask him to stay on with the school, but not coach the games anymore.  Usually when a coach becomes an off-field employee with the same organization he had been coaching, it's of his own volition.

What is he good at besides recruiting ?  You would think Miami would put him in some position but never a HC . I could see him going to a place like aConf USA team or a lower tier BCS school .  Probably rule out His voice is to squeaky and girlish  ;D to be a good analyst  for ESPN or such ....

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
