Big improvement over the last 10 years. Defense played well, excepting that one drive--but gads, you can't expect the D to stop them every time. No one has mentioned Bedford, who, with Marshall, had a good game. I don't see a lot of fall off (so far, anyway) at DE. Punting and special teams generally are an area of improvement. Big improvement over the last 10 years. The radio crew mentioned that after the game that all four USF penalties were at bad times and listed them off. I don't remember the specifics, but I'm sure they are in the game stats on GoUSFBulls.com. Penalties per game have been down significantly this year. After 5 games, USF is at 6.2 penalties for 43.6 yards per game. The opponents are 7.6 penalties for 60.6 yards per game. There has been a definite trend downward in USF penalties and yards per game, since USF went to I-A play. The opponents you can see tend to stay in the same range.USF Opp 7.25 60.08 2009 5.75 50.58 8.67 67.67 2008 7.75 63.83 8.67 72.75 2007 6.83 53.50 8.17 71.33 2006 7.50 62.42 9.27 73.73 2005 7.09 57.82 9.64 82.55 2004 6.55 51.73 9.36 83.00 2003 6.27 47.91 11.64 98.73 2002 7.27 60.36 USF record for penalties for a season10.00 88.00 2001 9.82 82.
