Whether it is Florida, USF or anyone else. . . .how does a college prevent something like that from happening?

Seems the agents involved should lose their license.

Players should know better than to receive any sort of money while they are a student-athlete. These guys are 18-22 years old, they know better. Typical case of this kid being greedy and trying to get away with a big payday. I mean, it is hard to turn down 100 G's though.

Agents need to be held responsible too. NFL needs to crack down and keep them honest.

they self reported, if I'm reading this right:

Florida is internally investigating what sources described as an allegation that a representative of an agent paid Pouncey $100,000 between the Gators' loss to Alabama in the Southeastern Conference championship game to Alabama and their season-ending Sugar Bowl victory over Cincinnati. Florida apprised the NCAA of the allegation after it became aware of it.

"We were made aware of some information in early June that we reported to law enforcement and we then shared with the NCAA and the SEC," athletic director Jeremy Foley said in a statement released Monday morning to ESPN.com. "At this time we have no information that has indicated that there are any compliance issues for the University of Florida."

so true.  Grothe tended bar while his mug was plastered on billboards.  Next season, half the fans at RayJay will be wearing 8 jerseys while Grothe scratches out crap pay with the tuskers.

Across the NCAA, this issue is as big as the investigators want to make it.

Yes, its so unfair that these athletes receive thousands of dollars in tuition, books, boarding, apparel.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
