With the shortage of schollys this year, do we really need a mediocre at best RB taking one up for a 6th year?  Maybe he will go play at another school...

Wow.. that's a bit harsh.  Most wouldn't call Mo a future NFL star, but he's given a lot of work and blood to this program and should be allowed to compete.

IMO, we won't recognize most players as far as the way that they played last year. A change in a system (which we haven't had on O since Andre left), can really create a spark for most players. Will we line up in an I and run an off tackle with a pulling guard? Has Mo or any other RB's had more than a handful of chances to run that play? No.

Jamar Taylor did at LHS. He was the fullback, Chris Rainey was the tailback.

Well at least 2 of those incoming guys could redshirt. I think one of the incoming RB's is a JC transfer, so he could see immediate time (can you redshirt a guy coming over from JC?).

If Plancher and Taylor are healthy, they could get most of the duties, and still use Kelly for special packages and blocking schemes. Not sure what to do with the others. Lamar may end up as a pitch man, or a screen man to get in space. May even run the inside route and we could do St. Tebow shovel pass plays! LOL j/k

Regardless, I think Murray will compete hard for snaps this year.

I'll agree that with the retention of Mo we'll have a consistent, reliable back. He's not the most explosive guy and doesn't have the potential Ford has but as noted he is a veteran leader and maybe with our 'veteran' O-line he can give us a strong ground game. I'd still like to see us pound the ball with Richard Kelly with an I-formation but that's not our style of play so I'll stick to Big-10 football for that. It seems we'll have another year of platooning our RBs but I can't predict what Coach Holtz is going to do. As for the Oregon game, I'll put most of the blame on the defensive side, containment was not in our vocabulary.

He is nice for depth but I expect Coach Holtz to see that he is not as talented as guys like Battles, Hayes, and Taylor. Holtz won't have the loyalty issues our old coach had...

Hopefully Mo is working on a good masters degree, because the bachelors he has won't cut it in the real world.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
