The reason we didn't get any pressure on Harris is because the ends kept overruning the play and Harris just stepped up into the pocket.

Sadly, he'll be a 4-6 rounder and will be converted to a LB in the 3-4.  Not sure how he'll be in coverage, feel bad for the guy.

As for JPP, he'll probably go, because of what happened to George

JPP is a true 4-3 End and a different player than George and would lose out on a lot of money by leaving. This is a VERY VERY deep DE class coming out and there are a few underclassmen that would leap JPP if they chose to come out.  JPP would be a lock top 10-15 pick in next years draft baring injury.  And Yes i know Mel Kiper has him there on his board or whatever but Kiper is a joke when it comes to his predictions and JPP has very limited film and disappears for large stretches of the game outside of the cupcakes and the SU and FSU games.  Also JPP has only been playing ball since his senior year of high school and is very very raw.  I think its best that he stays but i won't be surprised to see him leave.

I don't expect JPP to stick around.  He's a possible first rounder and a lock in the 2nd IMO.  And with the impending NFL lockout and whispers of a lost season (lost year of income), I expect a ton of 3rd year players to come out if they have any top 3 round possibilities.  Most expect a rookie salary cap will be part of the new collective bargaining agreement which also would hurt anyone leaving after next year.

I would hate to see JPP lose out on a bigtime payday.  He's been a pleasure to watch.

That and Miami's OL has an average weight of about 425. Tackles are supposed to take the ends out of the plays by pushing them deep into the backfield. Give UM's OL some credit, they have protected Harris well all year.

He was only projected a a third rounder or worse last year.  That's why he did not come out.  PProbably where he should be this year.  Not sure if he will be a first day pick even.

good thing the first day is only the first two rounds since last year

Doh!  :-\

George has been limited by our facilities. He has never been able to put on the 15 lbs of muscle while still maintaining his explosiveness. Honey buns won't do that for you.

Miami's O-Line has not been good this year.

Miami is #91 in the country for sacks allowed.

They also rank 66th in rushing.

they are below average and even considered terrible in pass protection.

DEs don't operate in a vacuum.

How many blockers are the DTs eating up?  The key is to build a complete DL with DTs that can dominate at the line of scrimmage and push into the OL.  Combine that with two DEs that can get off their blocks and you end up putting good pressure on the QB while minimizing yardage gained up the gut.

I think we've done a poor job getting DTs and we haven't done a good job getting Selvie to where he needs to be weight wise.  But that also will make him be a very good 3-4 LB fit in the NFL.

Take a look at the DL, especially the DTs.  Only Grissom is listed at 300 lbs.  No big NTs.  The DTs weigh what the DEs should be around - 260+.  We need some 300+ DTs that can jam the middle and draw multiple blockers.  You get two DTs that each need two blockers then the DEs have an easier go of it.
