PINELLAS COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib was arrested and charged with simple battery overnight in Pinellas County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Talib booked shortly before 1 a.m. Officials said Talib was not cooperative with troopers while in a taxi cab at State Road 93 and Gandy Boulevard.

According to Bay News 9's partner newspaper, the St. Petersburg Times, the trooper's report also stated their was an 'indication of alcohol influence.'

Talib posted a $300 bail and was released at 6 a.m. He has been charged with simple battery and resisting arrest without violence.

A first-round draft pick from the University of Kansas by the Bucs in 2008, Talib has had other incidents in the past.

In May, Talib became involved in a fight at a team practice with lineman Donald Penn in which bystander Torrie Cox was hit in the head with Talib's helmet.

Also, Talib was involved in a fight at the NFL rookie symposium last year with then-Buccaneers Cory Boyd.

When USF started football and inked a deal to play at Tampa (Houlihan's) Stadium, Malcolm Glazer stated that he would be proud to one day draft a USF Bull to play for the Buccaneers.

Well he had his chance last year, but he blew it.

The Bucs can keep Aqib Talib(an).  Mike Jenkins is better off with the Cowboys.

Apparently Talib likes to fight - among other things.

I hate to tell you all this but Talib was much better than Jenkins last year. Much better.

After his stroke, I don't think he is too coherent at this point and probably didn't have much to say about the draft.  His kids are running the "ship" now (yes, an intended pun).

Much better is putting it lightly. Talib was light years ahead of Jenkins and is going to be a great player. I'll take his attitude and talent over Jenkins anyday.

only problem is when you let that attitude get in the way of you playing.

And he's already suspended for the first four games? What a waste of talent.
